Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / FZ1S vs FZ1 SA
« on: 25 May 2021, 01:28:17 pm »
Can anyone help - what's the difference between an FZ1S and an FZ1SA? I assume the latter has ABS?

If that is correct, can anyone advise? I want to change Rotor Assembly for the stator - apparently the magnets can come loose from the stock version and wreck your engine. Every assembly housing I can find is for the FZ1SA - will that fit my FZ1S?

Please only answer if you know the answer rather than having a guess - cheers buds.

FZS1000 is heavier than FZ1
FZS1000 has softer suspension than FZ1
FZS1000 has comfier seat than FZ1
FZS1000 has better fairing than FZ1
FZS1000 has carbs and FZ1 has injectors
FZS1000 has nicer throttle response than FZ1 (less aggressive)
FZS1000 has tubular frame, FZ1 has Di Cast Alli frame
FZS1000 has 21 litre tank capacity, FZ1 has little 18 litre capacity.
FZ1 has more power than FZS1000 (about 6hp difference)
FZS1000 is slightly higher and longer than FZ1.

The bikes def look similar but feel very different.

FZ1 is def sportier. It has a more rigid frame, stiffer springs and wider bars, lighter weight, and being shorter turns in a bit better.

However, the FZS1000 is faster than the FZ1 in both acceleration on 0-60 and standing 1/4 mile and it has higher top speed.

I have both bike - but have converted the FZS1000 into a full on track bike. I have given it stiffer springs, clip-on handlebars, stripped all unnecessary elctrics such as lights and clocks (I've put in a smaller rev counter, ditched the seat for a much lighter foam pad, and adapted fairing and pulled the suspension through theyoked 10mm. . It is now lighter than the FZ1, sportier springs making the extra acceleration and top speed count, lower and shorter..

Hey peeps, I changed tyre on front wheel myself (Whoop!), but now my speedo isn't working. I tried to line the drive gear up - but no success. I did notice the cable has a kink - could that be the problem? Any suggestions? Thanks peeps

FZS600 Fazer / Help!!!
« on: 27 August 2015, 06:21:23 pm »
Major rear brake caliber faff. So I got a 2003 Yammy Fazer FZS 600 (2nd gen. So I went to change the pads, I loosened the first caliber pin ... fine, went to loosen the second and .. snap - the head popped straight off!

How on earth do I get it out? I can't drill it our and retap it coz then the new pin won't screw in? An 'easy out' won't work coz it's too small. Any wisdom? Any help much appreciated.

Cheers peeps.

FZS600 Fazer / Problems starting
« on: 12 March 2015, 06:18:29 pm »
so my throttle cable snapped after stopping to fuel up. I managed to dismantle the housing, yank the cable and ride Home. However, in messing around with it before getting it started it backfired. Got it home, got a new cable and changed it (wasn't as easy as I thought it would be). Anyway, now it is a bitch to start. I ,mean, a real bitch. It is getting worse too. It backfires too - and then starts on the backfire. If I shut off the fuel, it sometimes starts, then I switch it on again.

Once started it is a dream. Just getting the thing started. Anyone advice?

Well, if you look around - on eBay and Amazon, you can get them pretty cheap. I got 4 for £24. So that was def worth it
