Well, it seems we were meant to be at Tenby yesterday.
Me and my brother went out on the canoe and Kayak and started to explore around the rocks and coves.
We passed a swimmer as we went round the headland rock and about an hour or so later we decided to go round the far side again.
As we did we came across the same swimmer clinging onto the jagged rocks in a bad way.
His skin and lips were blue, he was shivering and had cut himself badly on the rocks.
The tide was running out fast around the rocks and was trying to take him out to sea.
He must've been battling against it and was now exhausted.
I asked if he was alright and offered for him to grab the back of my canoe.
It soon became apparent that he was like a giant sea anchor and I was struggling to make any headway against the running current.
I suggested that he get his torso out of the water and lay on the back of the canoe so I could make some progress.
In his panicked state to get on the back he ended up capsizing us and now we were both in the water.
I managed to get back on and got my weight as far up front as possible and told him to do the same with his weight at the rear.
Before I knew it, again in his desperation to get on he was clambering and laying on my legs bending them in a painful and unnatural position..
It was then I decided to bail out taking my chances in the water allowing him to take the canoe.
Foolhardy? Maybe, but my reasoning behind it was that I was fresh and the bloke was putting us both in danger in his desperate state.
My brother came to my rescue allowing me to hold on to his kayak while I swam behind.
So, good deed done and after checking on the rescued man's condition we parted company.
Think he was a bit embarrassed but very grateful and we made our way back so I could tend to my wounds I sustained on the rocks.
Gonna get some stick for the photo but we are actually about the same size, don't know what happened there.
Must be an optical illusion.
