For sale is my stunning FZS 1000 with 5554 miles.
The bike was pre-registered by Charles Hurst Yamaha in Belfast on 10.3.2004 it was then purchased three weeks later by its one previous owner on 1.4.2004. By way of some background, the previous owner was a single man in his mid 50’s and lived with his mother. The bike was his one and only interest and he cherished it from new. In recent years he sustained a back injury and more or less gave up biking. In the course of trying to persuade him to sell it I made three visits to him and so many phone calls that I simply lost track. Even on the day I picked it up (25.9.13) he was unsure whether or not he would let it go. The transaction was something to remember to say the very least!
As one would expect, it comes with the original and complete tool kit, owner’s manual, three keys and all old MOT’s and even tax discs. The current MOT expires on 9.3.14 and tax is valid until 30.4.14.
I have mentioned above that I acquired it on 25.9.13 after many years searching for a first generation Fazer 1000. I had read all of the reviews both online and in the motorcycle press over the years. I had earlier in the year ordered a brand new Harley Davidson Breakout and part exchanged by R1200GSA in that deal. The dealer wanted my bike straight away and I would not receive my HD until some time in October/November.
The Fazer came up at the right or wrong time (depending on how you look at it) and being bike-less and bored coupled with the fact that it was without exception the best example I had and was ever likely to see I had to make the purchase. I rode it home, put it in the garage and then set about making a perfect machine even more perfect, as is the way I approach my motorcycles. It is kept in my garage where the humidity is controlled (to stop the Harley rusting!!), hooked up to an optimate and Yamalube fuel stabiliser added to the tank.
Bikes are often described in a number of ways by sellers. Words such as “clean”, “very clean”, “pristine”, “immaculate” all come to mind. This bike is quite simply the best example of a first generation FZS 1000 I think you will find and it is completely unmarked and perfect in every way. I can say no more in my description of it.
I have carried out the following maintenance/upgrades:
Exup valve complete disassembly and lubrication.

The bike is fitted with:
Genuine Yamaha hugger (colour coded as per below).
Full Skidmarx fairing professionally colour matched and colour coded by Paintbox in correct Yamaha Silver Tech S3 paint.
The bike has not turned a wheel since I returned home with it. I have taken great delight in seeing it evolve over the weeks and given that I am intending to sell it and out of respect to a potential new owner I will not now ride it. When it is collected it will be cleaner and more impressive than any machine sitting in a dealer’s showroom.
The reason I am selling it is, for me anyway, quite simple. I am going to buy another bike that I have longed to own for some time, a KTM 990 SMR. I like extremes and on the one had I have the Harley which will barely make it through a corner without grinding, and on the other the KTM, which is probably at the top of the tree in the handling stakes.
In terms of transport options, I will gladly collect a serious viewer from any port/airport in Northern Ireland. I’ll even accompany someone back to a port/airport both of which are about 50 miles from my home which is in Cookstown, Co.Tyrone.
If your preference is to have the bike professionally transported then I can recommend this chap who is based in N.Ireland:
http://davysmotorcycletransport.co.uk/ The cost of having the bike transported over is circa £250.
The price of all this Fazer goodness is £4500 and I am not negotiable on this. I will however do my very best to make the handover of the bike as smooth and hassle free as possible for the new owner and I’ll make sure that it is fully fuelled, tyres correctly inflated and ready to ride away safely and in complete satisfaction. If it is to be collected I will ensure that it is properly uplifted and prepared for transport. I will ensure that the bike is treated in a manner that I would expect if I was buying it.
I have not advertised the bike anywhere else. It’s posted here as I know that these machines are very properly appreciated and highly regarded on the forum and I would like someone with a degree of appreciation to acquire it.
The photos below should be treated as a bit of a teaser. I am awaiting the return of the new Skidmarx fairing from Paintbox along with the hugger which should be with me come Wednesday this week. I’ll obviously take some more photos then showing the complete bike.
I would prefer to deal with any queries via pm.
