For Sale & Wanted / SOLD: Morgan Carbtune 4 column synchroniser
« on: 29 July 2020, 06:50:04 pm »
Hello Foccers,

I used to have a Fazer a few years ago. Sold it for a Honda CB1300.

I'd bought this to balance the carbs, but then managed to break an old spark plug in hole, so off the bike went to a mechanic. He then balanced the carbs for me, so these were never used.

For Sale & Wanted / SOLD: Scottoiler for FZS600 Gen1 Boxeye
« on: 17 August 2017, 10:47:15 am »
No longer own the bike and had taken it off. Buyer of bike was not interested in having it so surplus to needs.

I have just the scottoiler, no packaging or shiny manuals, but there's an instructional pdf somewhere I can dig out and email.

eBay gives an approximate price for a new one of £90, but I'm happy to let this one go for £30 plus postage. Paypal cost on buyer.

I'm in NW London area if someone wanted to collect, not far from Ace Cafe.

Bought this a while back to fit into my bike, but pleasantly discovered it already had one! So I have a brand new, packaging opened, K&N air filter spare.

Looking for £25 plus postage, or free pick up from North West London area.

FZS600 Fazer / Broken Spark plug
« on: 10 October 2015, 05:18:42 pm »
Got 3 out and replaced and the last one just snapped with the first attempt at turning the wrench to get it moving. Gutted!

Anyone broken it a similar way and managed to get it out without going the long route?

Whilst it seems like a business only offering, I basically emailed the contact saying I'm a self-employed Londoner.

I got a reply from the manager and later the code for getting the course for free. A £45 value!
In the latest email it says:

I would be grateful if you could pass on details of this promotion and share this voucher code with other motorcycle and scooter riding colleagues, who use London’s roads.

So from this I imagine anyone could get the code, not just businesses! Weekdays only and at Bromley, Bushey and Romford bike-safe training centres.

and for the lazy of typing, details for emailing:

FZS600 Fazer / Which tool for TPS ?
« on: 10 March 2015, 07:46:26 pm »
Hi,

Am in the process of replacing carb inlet rubbers and then hoping to balance the carbs.

In the infamous guide, it says
    • Security torx driver to fit the TPS

    • I want to ask what size is it that I need to get please.

      Thanks!

    Introduction / Bit slow sometimes...
    « on: 09 March 2015, 03:01:38 pm »
    Hello,

I joined this forum in Sept 2013, but to my shame I realise I never introduced myself here!

Anyway, have a 99 FZS600. Didn't ride it much due to time issues.

Am a washed up diving instructor with a background in I.T., live in NW London's suburbia.

Bike has had a new rear tyre, exhaust baffle removed, oil/filter changed, HEL lines installed.

Currently in the process of removing carbs to replace the inlet rubbers, and then will balance the carbs. Neither task have I done before, but armed with the Haynes Manual, Yam service manual, and the knowledgeable folk here, I'm going to succeed!

FZS600 Fazer / Replacing carb inlet rubbers
    « on: 07 March 2015, 04:49:03 pm »
I have no idea how to do this.

As I've got the tank off, before I balance the carbs (also never done before but great guide in articles will help!), I wanted to replace the carb rubbers.

Both outside ones are cracked and I have tested throttle, definitely cracked all the way in. I can't see the inside ones clearly yet, but was thinking to replace all four with some shiny ones I bought off deefer a while back.

I can't find a decent guide on here or on youtube specific to the FZS600.

Any guidance would be most appreciated.

    Thanks!

General / Recommend me: WIDE Fit Boots
    « on: 23 May 2014, 06:32:54 pm »
I have a pair of Frank Thomas boots from J&S that I bought a size larger to fit my wide feet. Foot moves around a little but with thick socks, it's fine.

I also have a seriously bashed up pair of Alpinestar race boots from the sports-bike riding days. These are falling apart, but I find there's more "feel" on these.

I had a pair of Sidi race boots too, but these were hell on my toes, ending up with corns and often cramps in the feet!

RiDE mag seems to be recommending "adventure" boots for road riding in their most recent print.

Any wide-footed foccers on here? Would love a recommendation for a summer pair please. In the £100 range, as I don't feel I need Alpinestar race boots again.

    Thx

Having searched through the forums it seems the general consensus is that they don't.

However, has anyone had the bike tested on a dyno to see if the carbs needed rejetting?

    FZS600 Fazer / Brake Lines
    « on: 21 March 2014, 11:34:41 am »
Further to reading about the FOC discount, I ordered braided front brake lines from HEL performance.

I ordered on Wednesday gone 5pm (after they close!), and today have received the lines. That's pretty darn fast! 48 quid for 2 after the discount. (race type).

    Very pleased with the service.

    General / Battery charger/optimizer
    « on: 19 March 2014, 05:08:28 pm »
    Hi all,

Looking for a recommendation for an optimizer/charger for my 99 fazer. I want it mostly to trickle charge the battery, but should also be able to charge a drained battery if needed.

    Budget is 40-45 quid max.

A mate suggested the Optimate 4 Dual Program device. It's going for 37 quid on eBay.

    Thanks

There was another discussion a while ago about a helmet with HUD.

I first saw this in Motorcycle Monthly, freebie newspaper, and it seems they're getting closer to production and shipping.

Has a lot of interesting features, including track mode, built in gps (but not nav I think?), and is swappable to another helmet.

    300 quid though.

FZS600 Fazer / Tyre Pressures: Metzeler Sportec M3
    « on: 11 December 2013, 12:13:00 pm »
I got the above fitted to my 99 Fazer yesterday and the guy put 42 PSI in. I said to him the user manual for the bike says 32/36, he shrugged.

I weight 85+4 kilos, and more often than not, carry some stuff in a tailpack, so am wondering whether I should leave the 42 or drop it to 40,38,36?

My riding is usually urban with the occasional A road and less occasionally motorway rides.

I'm happy with 32 in the front.

Bike does feel very sensitive to all the bumps and grooves in the tarmac, so am definitely tempted to drop it a bit, but do want to have the pressure ideal for best tyre wear and longevity.

    Thanks.
