I know what you mean. I got to work yesterday at half 5 am and my brilliant £500 Hein Gericke Master V Goretex jacket with the 2 zips and storm flap between the zips had left me with a wet belly, first thing i checked was i wasn't the one leaking. Gutted.

I've got a pair of Alpine trousers and an Akito jacket that cost me £5 each and I never get wet :D

I got the arai tour x3 lid. Comfortable, reasonably quiet and looks wicked. A right poser's lid. Which tbo is why i bought it. Good up to 100 but from there up to 160 dont be movin ur ead to use mirrors cos the wind lifts ur ead due to windblast catchin the peak. Ok when u get used to it tho. Lifesavers at that speed a definate no-no. Unless uv got a neck like mike tyson.

It's damn poor when you spend a fortune on decent kit and it isn't even waterproof.  The best set of waterproofs I ever had (back in the days when I was an all weather rider) were a set of cheap overtrousers and jacket from Millets.  They were the kind of thing walkers and maybe cyclist would use when they get caught out in the rain and were only a few quid but in all the years I have them, they never leaked.
