I am moving from Scala Rider to Autocom with Kenwood proTalk radio push to talk system. I am fitting this tomorrow and is for bike to bike communication but is only as good as the frequencies it can be programmed too to ensure compatibility to other peoples system. I will be hooking up a Sat Nav and MP3 hard wired. The system can also be used for rider to pilly chat. They are not cheap but can get decent stuff off the bay.

« on: 21 April 2014, 09:11:17 pm »
Not as much listening but playing on the guitar Randy Rhoads Diary of A Madman and Thin Lizzy Boys are Back in Town.

Other than that all roads leads to Rock / Metal when on the bike.

I found that my old rad pipes were (for a better word) rotting inside and I had little black pieces of rubber in the system. After fitting the new rads I flushed the system twice as I was having performance problems with stuttering and suspected that icing was taking place. After the second flush with new rads on and doing other work on the bike it is sweet again.

Had mine seize in and the pads were shocking so I left them in and popped the lid on the hydraulic reservoir. It took a hammer and chisel and a few hours to free them up then stripped down and clean put them back as seals were good.

It was the crud on the exposed area of the piston and onto the caliper that made mine seize. No idea about fitting a Fazer 1000 caliper

Now the only thing I would like to replace are the ignition coils.

Do you think that it's better to buy used or "china" brand new? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/New-Ignition-HT-Coil-Yamaha-FZS600-Fazer-98-03-/190614785844?pt=UK_Motorcycle_Parts_13&hash=item2c6186cf34

I got these that I have been using for about three months now. I noticed a clicking when idling but could not find the point of arc. Yesterday I found it coming through mid point of HT lead on number 3 cylinder. I have not noticed any reduction in performance but keep this in mind if your going to keep these coils on.

Hope you have identified the problem as you show.

General / Re: Your medical records are about to be sold.
« on: 07 February 2014, 02:21:54 am »
Not happy about this but here is an option for you as found here:

http://www.nhs.uk/NHSEngland/thenhs/records/healthrecords/Pages/care-data.aspx

If you are happy for your information to be used then you do not need to do anything. But if you have concerns or if you do not want information that identifies you from being shared outside your GP practice, as described here, inform a member of staff at your practice. They will make a note of this in your medical record. This will prevent your information being used other than where necessary by law, such as in case of a public health emergency.
I will be see my Doc about this as i have not been approached about it.

General / Re: ACF50 - Not Convinced?
« on: 22 January 2014, 11:00:33 pm »
Just done my bike in this stuff. I use to use SF365 when it was garaged but not as good since its now stored outside under a cover. I just sprayed everything and wiped down with a cloth if I saw runs. As i understand it you only freshen the application if water stops beading and you wash down with a car/bike shampoo. I am assuming that Muc Off bike cleaner will be to harsh to use on the bike unless I want to totally strip the protection off of the ACF50.

Can any one verify this?

Cheers Daz
PS Bike looks mint with this stuff on

The sales of Goods and services act is the way forward. The manufacture has to proof their is not a fault if you have highlighted a problem with a product within 6 months of purchase. Just remind them of their legal obligation under English law as they may not know this if they are not based in the UK

FZS600 Fazer / Re: Oxford heated grips fitted -- Yay!

The newer oxford grips have built in battery protection, I havn't tried it yet and dont plan too  :lol .

Anyway OP  :useless

And where did you hide the excess cable from each lead?

I ran my N/S passed the coils using cable ties. This is the only pic I have. I simply followed the cables to and from the handle bars. Mine excess cable and fuse I hid in the N/S panel where the the key to take off the seat is located. I put my sat nav and heated grips on same fuse. I have issues with gripps turning them self off if left idling at lights to long. So may put sat nav on main lights visa versa.
2 seat and tank off now for the petrol pump and filter also the coils 30 Oct 13

Leave the earth as it is and use this to piggy back into ignition. 2 min job.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/170709632237?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649

Nice having warm fingers on a cold day just watch your mates at lights they tend to get a little snatch happy for my grips and we can not move when they are taking the piss

Daz

I'm trying to figure out how this would give you live only when ignition is on... Can someone enlighten me?

The ignition will not allow power from the battery until the bikes key is on. Only then can you use the start button. Its also part of the battery recharge system (if I remember correctly)

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Re: just test-rode a FZS 1000 - lovely, but..
« on: 08 December 2013, 05:19:56 pm »
Thanks for all the good advice.  The thou' was so nice to ride (apart from the apparent reluctance to turn) and I'm pleased that this can be made better with a few tweaks.  I will try a 600 too, since it might suit better as a first bike, ideally a foxeye if I can find one!

My foxeye was a bit of lump when cornering and felt heavy as you described when I first got it. The tyres were squared off so they were the first thing to replace. It mad a huge difference but still not happy. So I set up the suspension for my weight and wow what a difference.

So new tyres = £220
Suspension set up = me and a mate with a tape measure.

You do not a;ways need to throw money at the bike and if your getting it from a dealer ask them to set it for your weight.

Just checked on my phone, looks fine and normal to me. Try doing a cache refresh and see if that help, looks like your browser may be picking up the CSS wrong to me. (Ctrl + F5 for a cache refresh)

Mick your a star mate. It was the CSS and that's a tip I will be keeping for other times.  :thumbup

Mine had a similar problem and went down the same road as you. In the end I did 3 jobs at once.

Rad flush second time.
K & N air filter to replace stock filter with 100 miles on it.
Carb clean took out all the jets and poked the hell out of em used a guitar string and socked in carb cleaner but took the rubber washers off em.
Make sure you clean and poke the hell out off the rad connection pipes on the carbs as well. As I was sure it was not helping and aided in the icing

Put it all back together and made sure everything was seated and air tight with no cracks in.

It did the job for mine
