Was looking at an 06 fz1n with 14000m ,looking online they seem to have issues with fueling , stator problems and valve stems wearing.how common are these problems , does anyone have any experience with that years model.

I have an 07 FZ1s, never seen anything mentioned about stator or valve stem problems.
As for fueling whilst the earlier bikes did suffer from" fuel cut" some owners never noticed it or cured it with an Ivans fuel cut eliminator or they used a power commander or similiar to get a custom fuel map done on a dyno, thats what I did and it was well worth the money to me.

Thanks for the reply , i read about the valves in a buyers guide i ride mag.the stator problems are to do with magnets coming unglued it seems to affect some R1 engines too, theres a few posts online about it , i just wondered if it was a common problem.

I've had 4 or 5 Gen 2's and have never had, or even heard of, this problem.

I could change my opinion, but then we'd both be wrong.

I have had 3 Gen2's, covered 50k miles and never come across either of these issues.
As for the fuelling there is a general "snatchiness" on "most" fuel injected bikes and the pre-'07 FZ1's tended to suffer more (in some peoples opinions).
In general you can ride around any throttle response issues or fit an Ivan's/Power Commander etc

I'm on my second one after leaving to try a Sprint 1050. Had nothing but trouble free miles with just the normal serving and tyres along the way.

The only thing I'd say is a bit pants is the fuel range. I could do 180/200 on the Sprint. The most I've ever had on this Gen 2 was 150. The least? I can quite easily do 75 then the light comes on. 4 litres left? Although out on steady runs it's roughly 120.
I'm sure the Gen 1 is a lot better. At some stage if a sorted Gen 1 at a good price comes along I might get one and then decide what happens to this one.

Got to agree with you there Nath, I had my gen1 for six years and while I like my gen2 sometimes I think a fully sorted ivanised gen1 would be better.
Kylron, If you are thinking of a gen2 get a good long test ride, they are two totally different bikes.
