Fazer model kits?
« on: 12 February 2015, 03:28:21 pm »
Afternoon all, I've got a hankering to make my bike. I cannot for the life of me find any Fazer model, does anyone know of any?

I think Tamiya (??) made a model of the FZX750 (the 70s cruiser).

Yeah I saw that, I can't see any actual Fazers though. I might just get an XJR400 and alter that, seeing as my front end is the same anyway :D

I always keep a look out for that sort of thing for sale at shows/events etc...but never seen a Fazer model. The kits you see tend to be older classic bikes from the 70's/80's like CB900's,Z1's,RD350's.Made a few motocross models,Vincent 1000, & a pop-up headlamp Katana a long time ago.The worst thing (apart from accidental damage :'() after you have finished them,is dust as only so much can be blown away. You need some sort of clear case/cabinet to display them in really. The brand Christo mentioned,Tamiya, fit together well.

Why not buy one part a week and build a real one.
Probably cost you £100,000 in total but think of the fun looking forward to your next part in the post.  :lol

:lol but it would maybe cost you fractionally less than making a model with one of those fortnightly part-works magazines! :lol

Maybe I could buy all the bits from a breaker and assemble it in my living room? That would be rather cost effective? :D

It would be interesting to know the total cost of building a bike by buying every nut and bolt from AJ Sutton for instance, i reckon my £100,000 guess would be an under estimate.  :look

Can't see you getting much change out of £100,000 when buying a 3D Printer... would be useful though :D

I remember seeing in a magazine a few years back, that an R1 would cost adout £70,000 if built from new spare parts. That was when they were approx £10,000 new.
