General / high bar track bike hire
« on: 02 June 2015, 08:03:00 pm »
Does anyone know of any UK track bike hire company who has a high bar bike on their books, Smallboy track hire used to do a Honda CB500 but no longer has it. A hornet or similar would be ideal.

General / new ideas about biker safety
« on: 05 February 2015, 10:45:16 am »
Hi guys, came across this new way of looking at biker safety the other day, it makes a lot of sense although the way it's written is a bit jargonesque.

http://nosurprise.org.uk/

One of their simple ideas really struck a chord with me yesterday while I was out riding. They are hoping to come up with some simple phrases that trigger ideas and responses (just one of their lines of development I think)  and a phrase they've come up with is cango willgo for situations where you might have a collision such as a car turning right into a sideroad as you overtake.  I'm well aware of this risk and always watch for it having lost one of our group to a drugged up french driver who turned without signalling just as he was overtaking alongside a junction.  As I was riding along I found myself saying in my head cango willgo whenever I was about to overtake a vehicle, just that simple couple of words have stuck in my head and might just be enough to save someone from making an error of judgement which they might or might not live to regret.  If you think this looks like an interesting initiative share it with your biker buddies, the more people that know about it the more momentum it gets.  I think it's still in the very early stages but I think it has great potential.

Events, Meets, Ride outs etc / cmc clay cross winter bike quiz coming up
« on: 10 October 2014, 10:29:55 pm »
Hi all, CMC are starting winter bike quizzes, first one is on Wed 15th October at the Clay Cross shop.
Starts about 7pm. the foccers have a long standing history of turning out a team when they were at the Calow site.  If you fancy coming along but there aren't enough for a full team we'll put you with others to make a team.
Refreshments (sarnies etc) will be provided by CMC, if you want to bring along a bottle of beer or two that's OK (as long as you're not driving of course).
Prizes will be provided by CMC.
The questions are about 2/3 bike and 1/3 general knowledge so non biking partners, friends etc are a useful addition to your team.

Hope to see some of you there.

General / East Midlands Moto Gymkhana day
« on: 30 September 2014, 07:58:15 pm »
If any of you guys fancy a go at Moto Gymkhana in a relaxed and non competitive way the East Midlands section are hoping to run a day where anyone can have a go without the pressure of jumping in at the deep end of competition.  Fazers are actually the most popular bike in UK Moto Gymkhana!!
If you're interested, or even better if a few of you are interested in doing it together contact Justin, the East Midlands coordinator to express an interest (no obligation at this point, he just wants to get an idea of numbers)  Email address below.

justin@motogymkhana.org

I'm hoping to be there too with my FZ6, not the most popular MotoG bike as I'm the only competitor who uses one.

The East Mids branch of Moto Gymkhana are hoping a practice and play day where any non members can have a go at Moto Gymkhana without the pressure of competition.  If you fancy a try out here's the post from FaceBook.  Fazer 600s are a popular choice for MotoG in the UK, good lock, creamy power, etc.  Reply to justin@motogymkhana.org, no commitment yet, just looking to gauge interest.

Events, Meets, Ride outs etc / winter bike quizzes, cmc clay cross
« on: 17 September 2014, 05:19:14 pm »
In the dim distant past the foccers used to send a team up to Chesterfield to take part in a monthly bike quiz over the winter, with some moderate success I might add.
CMC are again running winter bike quizzes this year (well I'm running them on their behalf), they are on the third Wednesday of each month from October to March.  Questions are a mix of about 2/3 bike and 1/3 general knowledge so non biking members of a team are useful to have.  If you fancy coming along and can't rustle up a full team then we'll do our best to place you with others in the same boat.  Prizes are provided by CMC, more than likely there'll be refreshments too. I'll put more details up closer to the date, first one is 15th October. Get it in your diary, come on you foccers and all that.

General / Moto Gymkhana anyone
« on: 20 June 2014, 11:35:00 pm »
Fazers are a popular Moto Gymkhana choice, anybody fancy having a go. I'm using an FZ6 but think the earlier carb bike might have been a better choice.

FZ6 / Fazer / Throttle hesitation
« on: 29 April 2014, 05:14:08 pm »
The off/on throttle hesitation on my 07 FZ has become a real issue since I started using the bike for MotoGymkhana. I've got to solve it somehow, I have a PC III fitted but this hasn't helped although I have yet to try many maps. I've read of having the ECU reflashed but I don't know what that is or if anyone in the Uk would/could d it. Anyone got any ideas about how to reduce or eliminate the hesitation?

For Sale & Wanted / fz6 wheels wanted
« on: 14 February 2014, 01:36:46 pm »
A long shot I know but is anyone selling a pair of FZ6 wheels, doesn't matter if they're scruffy, gonna use them for track day wets.  Even better if they've got discs on them.

FZ6 / Fazer / anyone got some FZ6 Fazer bars
« on: 01 February 2014, 05:56:54 pm »

FZ6 / Fazer / FZ6 Fazer bar dimensions
« on: 23 January 2014, 05:06:22 pm »
I wonder if someone can help me out. I have an FZ6N and want to raise the bars by just a small amount, there's very little spare cabling so can't just fit a pair of high renthals. Does anyone have the dimensions of a Fazer handlebar, width and rise mainly.  If I can find the dimensions \i can look at which renthal is closest.  I priced up a pair of Yamaha Fazer bars, nearly 50 quid!!!!!!!!!!!!

Other alternative is to fit bar risers but the only ones I've seen are 25-30mm which I think will be too much for the length if cable I can get.

For Sale & Wanted / FZ6 Fazer bars wanted
« on: 18 January 2014, 09:40:20 pm »
I'm after a pair of standard bars for the FZ6 Fazer. Anyone got a pair for sale, maybe you've fitted renthals and got them sitting in the garage unwanted and unloved :-)

Thanks

FZ6 / Fazer / renthal bars on naked fz6
« on: 16 November 2013, 05:43:41 pm »
Has anyone put a set of wider and higher renthals on a naked FZ6. Want to fit a set for moto gymkhana but looking at all the cables, wiring etc there doesn't seem to be a cm spare, maybe there's a bit of spare tucked away underneath somewhere. If you've done it, where did you get the extra length on cables, wiring.

FZ6 / Fazer / two brothers juice box
« on: 02 November 2013, 03:43:46 pm »
A lot of people seem to have used these on the thou, has anyone tried one on the FZ6, I've just bought an S2 and I don't think a Power Commander III is available, has to be a PC V which is very expensive. Juice box is a lot cheaper but is it any good?

FZ6 / Fazer / engine bars
« on: 30 October 2013, 08:29:35 pm »
Well I'm back in the foccer fold, had a fox eye and 2 FZ6s in the past but moved away to bigger (but not necessarily better) things. Have just bought a pristine S2 FZ6, white with red tank stripe, loud pipes  :) and going to do both track days and moto gymkhanas with it. Need to put some engine bars on it because I have no doubt it will end up on its side at some point, hopefully on a moto g day and not a track day. Anybody got any experience with any particular make?

FZ6 / Fazer / tickover for moto gymkhana
« on: 15 September 2013, 11:27:34 am »
I'm thinking of having a go at Moto G on an FZ6, one thing the guys do to help is speed the tickover up significantly.
As I understand it the FZ has an idle speed screw, does anybody know how much difference this makes, how fast can if be adjusted to. It would only be a temporary thing so no long term effect I think.
Also do both the early and S2 models have the adjustment screw.

Cheers

FZ6 / Fazer / power commander for sale
« on: 02 December 2012, 03:40:56 pm »
I have a PCIII USB to fit the earlier FZ6 (part number 410 411)
When I fitted it to my FZ it made a huge difference, more go and better economy. Took it off when I traded it in, not giving it to the greedy dealer!!!
Want £130 for it, will post it for free to UK.

General / garmin mount keeps breaking
« on: 21 November 2011, 09:08:29 pm »
Has anyone else had problems with the securing pins breaking on a garmin zumo mount. Twice in the last 6 months I've had one of the pins that go into the back of the unit body snap. Both times it happened while the unit was mounted in the cradle, one left pin and one right so not even the same pin each time. When I emailed Garmin and told them this was turning into an expensive exercise they sent me another mount free as a goodwill gesture which makes me wonder if this is a common problem. I'm reluctant to mount the unit until I've sorted out what's going wrong, the mounts are too dear to just keep buying new ones. An alternative might be to buy a non functioning Zumo and swap the back but I don't know if that's feasible.
Any ideas???
