Keith Johnsonto Fazer Owners Club Unoffical - FOC-U2 mins · Kilburn · Well Luke devilsyam you sir need a medal!! I wouldn't of believed your conversion would make such a massive difference. My gen 1 1000 feels like a totally different bike it's awesome. Increased the corner confidence too amazing! Keep up the good work.

Fit mine tonight and went a wee 70 mile jaunt to see how it feels. Instant improvement!

Fitting was a doddle (once I had removed some excess powdercoat from the holes in the dog bones to fit the bolts in nicer).

Even just sitting on the bike whilst it's stationary is night and day. Wish I had bought this two years ago :wall

It's a fantastic mod for good money. All you need now is an r1 front end mod to make it outstanding :)
If it's broken, it's not fixed.

Mental upgrade - takes less than an hour and you then realize it's the best £££ you will spend for this bike, including Full Monty. Planted, grounded, confidence in cornering/turning and even shifting your weight a slight bit, the bike just feels 100x better. Going from 0-100 is quicker, or so it feels, the back end doesn't sag. Nice one Luke.

Hi Luke just like to let you know I fit the shocker today and after a test ride the best way I can describe the transformation is that you brought my 12 year old fazer bang up to date and all the feedback you get is spot on. I've put my front back to standard like you said

Fazerjon
I did the R6 shock mod yesterday

Thanks to Luke for his advice and supplying the shock and dog bones. Fitted the shock yesterday, took about half an hour, when I told the wife what I was going to do she thought I'd be in the garage for hours! I set the front forks to standard settings then dropped the yokes down 10mm as per Luke's recommend settings. Well that has definitely changed the way the bike handles, noticeable straight away from accelerating, there's no sag or squatting so it feels great coming out of corners. I may just need a small tweak on the rear compression damping as I did get a bit of bounce as I was accelerating hard down a fairly uneven country lane, but other than that the bike is where I want it to be. A mod well worth doing, you can really get hold of the bike and throw it around much more easily than before, it feels lighter and more nimble in my opinion. Ivan's kit being fitted by Mike at the end of the month, what more could you want from a bike? :)

Is it possible to use a 25mm jack up kit once the R6 shock is fitted, or do you have to return to stock height if taking the R6 option.

Devilsyam will know for sure, if I remember correctly the standard dogbones with R6 shock will raise the standard seat height by approx 25mm.....that was too high for me so I purchased dogbones from devilsyam to put it back to standard height with the R6 shock fitted....

My bones return to stock ride height OE bones with r6 shock lower the rear 15mm
I don't recommend jack up with r6 as this just takes it out of the "best performance " but bare in mind most will back me up that the bum feel is taller as it does not sag like an old sofa as with stock shock

Thanks for your replies lads. My concern was that as I want to use a hugger with an after market undertray, which the makers can't assure me that they can be used together, I'm currently running with a 25mm lift, to improve the handling on the cheap, but also to ensure the two plastic items don't come in contact with each other. Thanks again, all food for thought.

In my experience which is pretty extensive I've not come across those to its meeting unless the rear has been lowered or shock is truly buggered

Hi Luke
Thanks  for the shock fitted it Friday .
The bike now feels much better it actually lifts the front on acceleration now rather than squats and squirms like it used to and feels a lot more planted on the road.
Thanks very much all the best John

Well it's a revelation , eventually got out for a decent run. Feels like a new bike, tracks so much better ,is more nimble and seems lighter. Why didn't Yamaha make it like that in the first place? The mirror covers look good as well, much less buffeting without oe mirrors. Thanks Luke, it's not often people deliver what they promise, this just works. Cheers

I've noticed I'm definately getting over further on mine since I changed to the R6 shock. I thought it was mostly in the mind at first but I'm definately scrubbing away more of the chicken strips.
