Right then a reply to Pitt and Luke  :D

fitted the lovely lickable R6 shock and polished bones yesty morn , only took less than an hr to fit and that was cos i had to refer to haynes manual for torque settings .
just to get you up to speed , i run standard front forks with 15mm thru the yokes and the forks still on original gloop oil in.
i went for a test ride , finding smooth tarmac to uneven crap roads.

first findings the bike now holds a line the rear firm but forgiving , the front forks now talk to me thru the bends , i now feel planted and can feel the front tyre. there is no see-saw action anymore. the ride is smooth on a little overbanding on uneven surfaces coming from the front end.

give it the full monty berries the bike is stable and feels alive with the tuning Mike did.

the shock is night and day and made me realise how shite the standard shock is. Luke set the shock for my weight around 11 stone , i have left the setting as they are. the bike is balanced , all it needs i think is a oil change in the forks .

i cant stress how good the R6 mod is and the bike feels comfortable, taut and no understeer on sweeping bends . Its FANTASTIC! :D

Cheers Luke you are a Star! the best dollar i have spent on all the mods my bike has !

thanks a million times :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :)

I have just purchased a fz1, interested in this shock mod, but i am 15 stone, so if 4 is for up to 11stone, what is setting 5 good for, or setting 6 if they go that far?
If i am sending my weight to you etc, should it not come set to the setting i need it on?
Cheers
Stevie

I'm 17 stone with my leathers on, the shock came set on 4, I did find it a bit wallowy, albeit, controlled wallow. Clicked it up to 5 and its loads better, just shows up the front end now. To be honest, I haven't done anything else to it, need to set it up properly, including the front end. Still glad I made the change to the new shock tho :)

steivie nowt dont pm, dont work for sum unknown reason email me devilsyam@gmail.com

this mod is for gen1 not fz1

4 suit most with the adjustments i make to the other settings make it all pull together but if you recall in the instructions i do state
you can go up to five 2 up with gear

it is subjective i have to pic middle ground as set up for info given

im not perfect, close granted, but not perfect yet

fitted shock today was pretty straight forward

it does look good, took the opportunity to clean hard to reach parts while it was stripped

lubed all bearing`s as well

not test rode it yet but does feel a lot firmer

didnt use the new shiny bones as was on tiptoes so cleaned painted and fitted standard ones now happy as can get both feet on ground

so the original hyperpro dogbones i bought to lower it are now redundant

gonna send pic`s to devilsyam i canny work these bloody thing`s lol

625 pounds, which is much better than the 450 pound rate of the gen.1 o.e.m. unit. This R6 shock is three pounds lighter than the gen.1, o.e.m. unit, also!

i have yuppie ohlins yellow and stocker red good to go

Fitted shock today gave the bearings a grease and stuck it back together all done in about 40 minutes. Took the bike for a spin and cant believe how much better it is than with the stock shock fitted looks fantastic in yellow with the nice shiny dog bones.
Cheers Allan

Luke
Even though I didn't buy any R6 rear shock bits from you, thanks for all the advise.
My settings are a bit diffetent because I'm building a sidecar onto the side of my Fazer Gen1. Luke advised trying first setting 5 and then go up or down depending on the ride. Setting 5 feels great.
And I also made up a set of shorter than normal dog-bones to keep all the backend height.

Compared to the oem shock... someone needs to slap the engineer who decided to put that original shock in the FazThou!!!
 :)
Thanks Luke

Now who can help me with the tic...tic...tic...tic noise comming from the cam area????
