brill, thanks for that. If you go into the motorcycle section you can also get them as a bumper sticker, which will be going straight on the van when it arrives!

I'm not too sure to be honest, I'd have probably thought that it may not be the best idea, but someone with more experience might be able to explain.

it's doing ok, just need to spend some time setting it up I think as it's still a bit firm, even with a pillion

Seems to be better than stock but only time will tell!!

I seem to get a similar problem, weigh in at around 11stone in all my gear and have the preload at 4 or 5. Seems to skip and wallow on country roads going into corners and no matter what setting I tried i couldn't get it comfy. I changed out for a betras shock but haven't got it set up yet.

Be interesting to see if going down on your preload makes a difference, as might end up going back to stock.

Sounds like a plan, only 15 minutes away near Selby so would be ideal. When were you thinking?

i got it fitted up with no problems, so just need to see how it compares. It's easy enough to go back if needed.

FZS600 Fazer / 600 rear shock

I bought a betor rear shock off here a few months ago and haven't got round to fitting it as yet, but wondered what the general feeling around betor as after market shock was, i've never heard of them!

I was dead set to change the standard shock out today, but after thinking a bit  more about it i'm not sure if i should as for the first time in three years it handled great on the dragon rally last month.

If your planning on making a weekend out of it, you really can't go wrong for roads, you have the entire playground of the wolds, moors and dales to play in, along with Northumberland and even the lakes if you go out for a full day!

As to racing, never been but always heard good things.

It was enough for a couple of coats I believe, it was a friend who sprayed it and he reckoned it was sufficient.

You need to know the name of the colour, for example mine was reddish yellow cocktail (yellow in english!). You can use the forum or alternatively the colour selector on RS paints website, then just find it from the list.

If you get stuck give them a call, pretty helpful.

FZS600 Fazer / Carbtunes in yorkshire
« on: 05 October 2014, 11:40:52 am »
Would anyone near selby, north yorks, have a carbtune or similar that I could borrow along with a hand to balance the carbs?

Getting an annoying vibration through the pegs between 6-7.5k revs in any gear and thought it's probably worth checking the balance.

Used hammerite to touch up bits of my frame and is almost a perfect match, think I went for the less glossy one.

Has set rock solid and isn't a problem.

I believe the cost of the paint I bought was about £25 delivered from the above website for 100ml of each stage coat (the guy who painted it had lacquer already).

As to what 100ml gets you, it was enough to sufficiently paint the front fairing (fox eye) with a bit to spare.

46
A bit of a sand to smooth the surface then a couple of coats of hammerite (they do a coloured paint that now neutralises rust).

Worked a treat on my frame/front engine mounts.

When I had my yellow fairing done it came as a 2 part, the base was the colour and then the second was a kind of pearlescent overcoat. It's going to be re-done eventually with just the base to match the tank better, as it looks too washed out now with the second layer on and it bugs me.

It may be worth just trying the base colour first before adding on the extra layer.

I believe (and i'm no pro painter) that all spraying work should have the lacquer (clear coat) applied after painting anyway, to protect the paintwork.

highly recommend http://www.autopaint-pro.co.uk/ for paint, great service and an almost perfect match at a pretty reasonable price.

Used them when i had my fairing re-sprayed.
