Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Right, which fecker nicked my EXUP valve????
« on: 23 February 2012, 08:28:36 pm »
Decided last weekend that it was about time I serviced my EXUP valve.

After 2.5 hours stripping it down and getting the fecking bolts out I finally removed the external plate (that was all connected up to the cables and everything) and found there's no bloody valve in there.  >: >: >:

Oh well, I've bought some stainless bolts for it today and I'm going to get a peice of 4mm thick stainless plate and make a blanking plate for it. That will do until (or If) I  can get a valve off Ebay.

The Hafords advanced is fine. It's Silicate free, organic acid technology which is exactly what's recommended for pretty much any vehicle since 1998.

You do know it's cheaper to buy the concentrate and battery top up water then mix it yourself.

I bought 2 litres of the concentrate and 2 bottles of distilled water. I only need 2.4 litres for the Fazer.

Halfords trade price came in handy once again though.

Distilled water 1lt is £1.79 retail and £0.69 trade.  :lol :lol

The Antifreeze was over £2 cheaper as well  :)

This what I use,

http://www.totallywicked-eliquid.co.uk/products/tornado-tank-ecig/tornado-tank-e-nic-compact-starter-kit-product.html

I recommend the Menthol as the tobacco flavour is horrible. You might find it a little harsh on the throat to begin with but bear with it, it gets a lot better once you get used to it. I haven't given up completely yet but I'm down to no more than 5 a day on average. Saving quite a lot of  money.

Pentium 1 with Win ME?

That thing should be in a museum (or a skip).

You must be some kind of masochist to use that.  :lol

Even if they won't play in windows media player you may still be able to write them to CD. That's the best option. It's what I do with any DRM files I get so that I have a non DRM version that I can do whatever the hell I want with.

You could choose to turn off the real-time scanning and stop it loading up at the beginning and simply perform a scan manually every month to ensure you have no nasties.

You could if you don't mind it getting infested to hell and gone in the meantime. All depends on the sites you visit of course. An alternative would be to invest in a nice lightweight AntiVirus solution like ESET Smart Security (http://www.eset.co.uk/Home/Smart-Security ) or an even better option for speeding it up (which the XP re-install would do pretty well) would be to change to Linux. If you only use it for surfing and Email then LinuxMint is a pretty good option.

http://www.linuxmint.com/download.php

I'd only really recommend Linux though if you have a friend who knows computers. It's pretty user friendly these days (even the wife uses it  :eek ) but can still be complicated when you want to do certain more advanced things.

The one I've got was originally sold for an Aprillia Falco, I just bought a link pipe to fit. Link pipe was only £40 from MTC.

only ask as my insurance company asked this year: 'any changes to the bike from when you last spoke to us?' i said no so they said 'in that case we can no longer insure you as there's a maximum of 3 modifcations policy now in force.' they lost my business from that moment.

I had that with quite a few companies this year. Finally went with H&R insurance who seemed quite happy with the 6 mods I have.

thats who im with :)

When did you renew?

Did mine at beginning of August.

Simplest way to tell. Ride on a steady throttle just a smidges below 3000 rpm and repeat at 4500rpm. If it surges at 3000 and vibrates at 4500 then it's not been done. If it's smooth all the way it almost definitely has.

I've been using it for months at work and it's fine. I use Firefox at home so although IE9 is installed it rarely gets used. If it's screwing your firewall and Anti Virus Oldgit then I suggest you get a decent Security solution. I use ESET and have no troubles at all.

I have been thinking about earplugs recently, will maybe try some cheap ones and if I like it I'll then go for some better ones. Has anyone seen these or tried them?

Tried them, hated them. Some people seem to like them though.

Always use them. I'd like to still hear when I get old.

I fond these good, not too effective like some of the foam ones but cut down on the wind noise decently.

I've got the Blue Flame twin port Titanium and even with both baffles out it's quiet enough at town speeds but fruity when you wind it on a bit. I got my son to ride it for me so I could get a pedestrians view and was a bit surprised at how quiet it was.

I do the daft without/sensible with thing as well though.  :lol

Check out videos on the Peraves Ecomobile. I believe they use a Starter motor to deploy the wheels. Got to be cheaper than pneumatics and looks just as fast.

Had my bike done today by the amazing Falcon269. Cheers Mike, watching you work was quite amazing. I beleive you when you say you could do it in your sleep.  :lol

Rode  back through the Peak District (didn't see a single  :stop ) with a couple of friends on SV650s (well someone has to ride them) and I have to say I am very happy with the improvement. It's so smooth and vibration free. Now I just have to change the plugs and air filter and strip/rebuild the exup valve and i'll be sorted.  :)

Last few miles home on twistys that I know and love were somewhat entertaining.  :lol :lol

Cheers to Karl for making his garage available as well.
