'Patriotism' is nothing to do with being left or right. The highest levels exist in communist North Korea.
It's the pathetic wing of the far right who think that every judge who rules against the government, every lawyer who brings them to court, in fact all of the 48% who voted against Brexit, is an '' enemy of the people ''.
That's not patriotism, that's tyranny.

Samuel Johnson ---himself a politically committed Tory. So you now agree with the Right.

"Johnson was a devout, conservative Anglican and a compassionate man who supported a number of poor friends under his own roof, even when unable to fully provide for himself." Bate 1955

If more right wingers behaved like Johnson by giving a damn about others poorer than themselves, I might be more amenable to agreeing with them.

Oh and, PS, since this is getting political, I'll leave you to get the last word in (again).

Ordinary working class folk who enjoy getting out the Union Jack bunting on The Queen's Jubilee and having a good old knees-up with their neighbours whilst singing God Save The Queen don't want to hear all that student union debating society bollox though do they?
You lot really have lost touch with base haven't you.
You've insulted one half of your electorate by branding them a load of racist bigots, and then sit there all puzzled and het-up because they've gone over to the other side.

It's not about the 'flag'. It's about how it's used. I've got several on my Triumphs, and are quite proud of them :)
I'd find it very difficult to insult half of the electorate. That's all in your imagination. Or more likely, the usual ultra right baiting trap
So like Graham, I'll duck out of this 'political' shitstorm, and leave the last word to you....... again  :D

What gets my goat is when people say "re double our efforts" when they were not doubled in the first place so how can they be re doubled.
I don't do rain or threat there of. dry rider only with no shame.

I believe that the offence of failing to pick and and dispose appropriately of dog crap comes under the control of the local authority, many have specific Dog Wardens to deal with the problem. Try contacting them

That doesn't apply to cats also does it?. I'm sick of other people's pussy's dumping in my garden :'(

Sadly, no it doesn't, we have the same problem with them here. Oh, and foccin Wood Pigeons shitting everywhere, absolutely everywhere. In the bird bath, on the patio table and chairs, the pavements under most lamp posts, telegraph poles and trees are covered in the stuff, and I believe it can pass a virus onto humans. They appear to have vacated the woods and become Street Pigeons. I started shooting them some years back (along with the grey tree rats) but shot that many I was having trouble disposing of all the bodies

...just waiting for someone to mention Spinal Tap :guitar

I heard a story once (it might be apocryphal) that it was actually based on real life.

If you were playing alongside Lemmy from Motorhead, it didn't matter what guitar and amp you had, somehow he was *always* louder, so apparently the joke was that your amp might go up to 10, but his went up to 11 !

Did you read that the reintroduction of pine martens is culling grey squirrels? Red squirrels are genetically aware that pine martens are to be avoided, but the grey has no prior knowledge

Motörhead headlined the first Bol d’Or at Magny Cours in 2000. Yep, they were loud :lol :thumbup

No I didn't. But that could the case. I recall on holiday on the Scilly Isles perhaps 10 years ago, sat on a beach eating a picnic, a song thrush suddenly appeared right next to, then jumped onto my hand and started to eat whatever it was I was holding. The wife sprinkled a few crumbs onto my other palm, and the bird swapped hands and tucked in. The same happened with some House Sparrows. Apparently, its common there, because the birds have no natural predator on the islands

Turn 70 towards the end of this year, so the DVLA has notified me that I need to renew my licence. You can do it easily on line, but if you wish to retain all of your categories, then you need to send off for the forms. Renewing on line means you loose C1 and D1 entitlement. That means a medical examination and an eye test in order for those two to be able to sign the forms. The Opticians charged me £10 for the privilege, the Doctor is charging £180  :eek
