cig charger socket beside ignition switch
« on: 29 December 2015, 08:38:51 pm »
Is anyone able to post photos of their FZS600 which has a cig lighter charger socket next to the ignition switch?
I believe there is actually the space to fit one there, but I could be wrong.

Mines under the seat, much warmer on the butt when it catches fire.

Mines under the seat. If touring I either run cables under the tank or via tank bag to the bars for satnav or phone.

Not what you asked for but here for good measure is a photo of a socket mounted in the left side infill panel.
The two bits sticking out are a separate bracket i made for an elastic band to stop my sat-nav plug working its way out on the move. Should not really be needed, but for my sat-nav it is.

I've got mine installed without drilling - 3M tape. Also USB socket.

ah.....Limax, Freeware,...just saw this - thanks for the photos.

I need to move my charger socket away from my LHS infill panel to give the twin air horn more space (& btw if you ever only do one mod then let it be a twin air horn)

I've been told that bike electrics should reside on LHS of the bike so they are protected from rain when bikes on the side stand. But has anyone had success with fitting a charger socket in the RHS fairing infill panel being as I said - exposed to rain when the bikes on the side stand?

Never hear that one before. Can't see it making any difference which side as the same amount of rain will fall on the top of both sides. The type of socket you should be using will have a waterproof cap on it when not in use, but you probably knew that  :) .

I have a wind proof fag lighter for lighting my tabs when riding. lol
Barry Sheen had a hole drilled in the front bottom of his full face bucket so he could have a fag while waiting on the grid for all the other bikers to fall into place behind him. Good ole Bazzer.

Ps: I don't really have a wind proof fag lighter, I just struggle with matches.

I installed 2 power sockest on the lhs infil panel but on the upright part, 2 reasons for this, water wouldn't sit on them and they were used for satnav power and mobile phone power, easier to route cable to my satnav and tank bag, will post a pic at some point. I installed a 12V cig lighter socket, with waterproof cap, this is used to power a usb extension in the tank bag and also to power my airbed pump when camping, I also installed a dual USB socket, one works the satnav and one spare. Again, with a waterproof cap. I have it wired through a relay fitted in the tail so there is only power when the ignition is on, my heated grips are wired the same.
