« on: 25 August 2014, 05:40:50 pm »
I've just fit a K & N air filter to my bike after 12 years of ownership and it feels more eager to rev than ever before.
Definitely a big improvement and no other mods done.

I've got a rear wheel spare but it has some of the brake disc bolts snapped in it.
I am in Leeds though!!!

Done it three times, twice on bike and once in the car. Car journey was the best weather, typical innit? Views from the top over the islands are stunning.
It's a nice ride and not difficult, unlike Wrynose and Hartside in the Lakes.

« on: 30 July 2014, 09:20:51 pm »
I've owned my bike for 12 years and 40 000 miles. Have experienced this once only and I believe it was due to front tyre wear.
Went away when it was changed and has never re-appeared. Never went back to Bridgestones either!!!

FZS600 Fazer / Re: Anyone fitted hand guards to a boxeye?
« on: 24 July 2014, 12:42:27 pm »
I actually bought some hand guards without really checking. Not a chance without modding the fairing so a
good job they were cheap!

When I worked in a factory I rode to work virtually every day as I had to get changed anyway before starting work.
Now I work in an office it's more trouble than it's worth to use the bike. I only live 3 miles from where I work and
although my journey time would be faster on the bike, when you factor in everything else before and after the actual
travelling I'm sure it would take me longer on the bike than in the car. I even have to move the car to get my bike out!

Spoilt for choice really. The two mentioned already are both good. Buttertubs pass out of Hawes to the North is good and was part of the Tour de France route.
If you end up in Alston again, drop down from the Hartside cafe then take the old A6 to Kendal. Top bit not fantastic but bottom part South of Shap is good.

Poly 26 do one. They're in France but easy enough to order through their UK distributor.

I remember Ade Edmonson on a chat show just after Rik Mayalls quad bike accident. His comment,
"When I heard about Rik's accident, I laughed. For a very long time!"
Comedy genius the pair of them. RIP Rik.

Recently got one from my local non-franchised dealer, Jordans in Leeds. Went in with the part number and picked it up a couple
of days later. Cost less than £3!!!

« on: 24 May 2014, 09:15:57 pm »
Have you tried Puma boots? I've got wide feet and big calves and at the time in J&S these were the only ones I was comfortable in.
Not claimed to be waterproof but have never leaked and are super comfy.

Been a few times to Scarborough but not for a few years. You can't really see anything for free, you have to pay to get into the circuit.

« on: 09 May 2014, 12:24:46 pm »
I've recently fitted the Thou shock with 600 spring and it feels really smooth compared to standard. Still feels a bit bouncy though.
Can anyone recommend compression and rebound adjustment settings?

Ferodo discs ordered. Looks like I may have got the last 2 for an FZS600 at £108 each. They're not listed on the M and P site for that bike any more but for an FZ6 they're £213 each!!!!!!! so cheers for that Tefer.

Cheers, the Ferodos look good, might give them a go. Some-one had asked about Zone discs on the old forum so was hoping for some more info by now.

General / Re: what did you do with your fazer today ?
« on: 05 May 2014, 04:48:08 pm »
Had a ride from Leeds/Hawes/Sedburgh/Settle/Leeds. Saw a few Fazers but not in enough time to give the salute!! Twisty roads.
Still testing the 1000 shock on my 600 that may need tweaking still, but not sure what to do. Front brakes seem to be getting worse so need
some TLC and need some new discs anyway.

FZS600 Fazer / Front brake discs
« on: 05 May 2014, 04:43:58 pm »
Hi all. I'm after recommendations for front brake discs. Had an advisory on last years MOT so need to bite the bullet and get some sorted.
Has anyone had any from Zone Products? Price is an issue and these are good value, but are they any good?
Or anyone got a front wheel with good discs?????????  :)

FZS600 Fazer / Re: delkevic
« on: 05 May 2014, 03:48:54 pm »
I've got Delkevic downpipes and can. All fit fine and quality good. My baffle disappeared somewhere and only noticed it was gone when washing bike one day. Failed MOT so had to buy one, didn't make any difference, just the tester refused to pass it with no baffle.

FZS600 Fazer / Re: Help needed please
« on: 05 May 2014, 09:12:24 am »
If you've lifted the tank recently the breather pipes get lifted with it, then when you drop the tank back down the pipes get kinked and nipped shut.
I use some long nosed pliers to give them a pull to make sure they're fully extended. My tank used to visibly expand when opening the filler cap before I understood the  problem.

FZS600 Fazer / Re: Engine Bars or Crash bungs??
« on: 22 April 2014, 10:04:00 am »
I had a set of genuine Yamaha engine bars on my 600 when I came off at about 30mph.
Went down hard and slid down the road but no damage to engine or radiator. Fairing focked though!
