Lower tripple tree
« on: 12 June 2020, 08:45:55 am »
Gents, I bought a second gen FZ1 that the front end is knackered. I bought a Headlight and nose fairing and the left shock all ready. After putting it together it appears the lower tripple  tree is also bent so I need a replacement so if anyone knows where I can get one or if any other yamaha will fit, please let me know.

It's been a while since I done any front end conversions.  Off the top of my head most other Yamaha lower yoke assemblies will fit, the trick is getting one that matches the stanchion size and distance etc.  I would go for like for like i.e. FZ1 or look at the R1.

The shaft is a push fit into the Aluminium clamp and it may just be misalined.
A good machine shop will tell you quick enough if it is scrap or not.

Its definatly out, The picture dosn't show it but as the part is on the bike the lower clamp is pushed down on the left and back so over the length of the fork it kicks it out about 10 mm.  Ive plenty of other stuff to do so ill wait and see if one shows up on Flee bay. I would have thought some other Triple tree from another Yamaha would fit?

Answered that above, most other lower yoke assemblies will fit, but not stanchion OD or spacing.  The R1/R6 is your closest bet, or any USD model with 43mm forks, so that could include the later MT range.

Ebay is your friend, just look up FZ1 lower yoke, bottom yoke, triple clamp or triple tree and I'm sure you'll find something.
