Looks like 400/650 Bros/Hawk - very underrated machines those - and that ones nice, tidy and understated.......best of all, not a sign of exhaust wrap, knobbly tyres, or a brown seat !!  :lol :lol

Had a nice little ride out to Rutland Water today with my pal Jim on his Can Am Spyder. The Fazer behaved perfectly....as always !

Personally if I were go down a cafe racer type route then something like a nicely done xjr1300 would be more my cup of tea

Those are not cafe racers - they don't have knobbly tyres, exhaust wrap, brown leather saddles, or control cables dangling in the wind from the high-rise handlebars.

Come on Dude, get with the times  :rollin

Ebay is your friend, just look up FZ1 lower yoke, bottom yoke, triple clamp or triple tree and I'm sure you'll find something.

Out of curiosity, why don't you trust Hyperpro's choice of fork oil ? I'd have thought they were the best people to advise on what goes with their springs ?

FZS600 Fazer / Re: Replace boxeye fairing with Foxeye?
« on: 06 June 2020, 09:28:00 pm »
Do note Fowler's will sell you a genuine Box eye fairing fully painted for £240. Though I think they've only a few colours still available.
The FoxEye fairing is only about £220 new, fully painted, and note it is shared with the FZS1000, ditto headlight cluster.

I just noticed this post Arfa - are you sure about the Fox Eye fairing - we have both a Fox Eye 600 and a FZS 1000 and the fairings are definitely not the same ??

Yamaha have certainly made some well loved models. Apart from the Fazers and the FJ1100/1200, I'm thinking of the TDMs. Some very keen owners out there.

Definitely with you on that. Can't think of anything that I'd want to replace either Fazer with - but I'd also love a FZ 750 with decent wheels/tyres and I'd also love an original 750 Fazer and a XJ 600  :)

Doc still recommending 2000 mile oil changes on the FJ, using an old-style mineral oil, the maker of which escapes me now?

He was very helpful to me with Fazer suspension advice back when I lived in Bristol. Top bloke! :)

Not particularly recommending that frequently, but still using Morris Ringfree 20-50. My bikes ran perfectly for 80,000 miles so I'm not going to change now  :) .

Top bloke indeed  Doc guided me around the Nordscleife more than a few times until I knew the track well enough to go at a decent pace myself - very helpful on riding technique and set-up. Liz followed him round for a few laps on the Fazer 1000 and absolutely loved it. She even got to do a few laps of the Nurburgring F1 circuit too (she had the back wheel in the air panic-braking for the hairpin after the pit straight :lol ). Going round there with our eldest on the pillion was the point I decided I'd had enough of the standard Fazer 1000 rear shock !!.

Yes, since way back in the mid 90's....  :)

Love the Fazers almost as much, not planning on selling either of those two either........... ever.

Update, modded FJ1200 ... ooh, that's got to be nice. :)

Hope it's not too subtle Mike, I wanted to keep it understated, so that the casual observer would think it's original.

I like that reasoning.........the last new bike I bought was my RSV Mille in 2003. That bike today still looks great, goes great and has no trouble keeping up with brand new machinery on track days.

The Fazer 1000 with its uprated suspension does everything I'd want from a bike on the street and with its colour matched fairing lowers still doesn't look "old".

My FJ 1200 languished at the back of the garage for a few years while I rode the more modern bikes, but treating that to USD forks, upgraded brakes, 17" wheels at both ends, modern tyres, uprated rear shock and some TLC means I now have a "classic" bike capable of keeping up with anything on the road that's ridden with a modicum of safety and yet still have the comfort of an armchair when I need it.

Spending money on bikes I already own and love is a much better/cheaper proposition to me these days than just buying something new - besides which, most modern styling is far too "bitty" and "tacky" for my old eyes.

My other big loves are riding my mountain bike (between 3,500 and 5,000 mile per year for the last 10 years - a lot more miles than I put on all of our motorbikes together :'( , but not competitively, or as part of a club), building stuff with wood and recycling/upcycling old stuff (chairs, sheds, stores, planters, fences etc) and flying a helicopter (as a private, not commercial, pilot).

None of them gives the same buzz as being on the bike on a lovely twisty mountain road, or a nice long flowing race track, but flying a helicopter close to the ground practicing sharp stops/tight turns is close.  :)

Welcome on board Dick, I'm sure you'll find any help you need on here  :) .

Obviously your first questions need to be about things such as which is the best oil/petrol to use in the bike, the best tyres, tyre pressures, best alternative rear suspension and then ask about sprocket sizes. That's sure to get everyone agreeing on some common answers for you.  :lol

I'm sure you'll enjoy both the bike and the forum as much as we do.

Hi Mike, after trying to push the bike forwards in my garage with a padlock through the sprocket,  :'(  I now need a replacement rear jogger/chainguard - colour is not important as I'll be spraying it black  :)

Let me know when you're back and we sort it out, if it's not already been claimed.

Nope, he's tried motorcycle helmet and motorcycle crash helmet, with and without spaces, as well as a few other possible combinations and answers.

Is there an Admin who can help with this......don't want to lose a potential new member !

Another Fazer owner who wants to join here has been having great difficulty registering, manly due to the answer to the joining no security question about what products Arai and Shoei sell/make.

I've sent a pm to Mel, but so far not had any response - could anyone else out there shed any light on this as apparently Crash Helmets is not the right answer.
motorcycle helmets. ? Is it an anti robot thing to check if you are a real person

Yes, that's what it's for....I'll get Roy to try Motorcycle Helmet and Motorcycle Crash Helmet. Cheers Mr Sharp.

I'll post how it goes !

Took the 1000 out for its first run since February, 100 miles around the north Oxfordshire & Warwickshire countryside. Great, quiet roads, great weather and a brilliant bike.
