They sell them on wemoto if that's any help? £95 I think. Just stick your bike details in and it's in the body work section:)

Well that's what I thought lol but reading the following thread: http://foc-u.co.uk/index.php?topic=23023.0 would suggest not...

Not sure what it's for if it's Not? Identified the main jet, needle jet and the pilot jet...whats this one then? Lol my head hurts.

Bit of an update. Decided that the carbs did need to come off as:coolant hoses all needed replacing, bike sat for 3 years before I had it and several little idle/running issues including running rich. (Pipe is black and sooty)

Carbs are off. Cleaning one at a time. Have an ultrasonic cleaner so going in there. Pilot jet on n01 carb blocked. Pretty clean other than that. No.2 float bowl full of crap. Looking forward to no3 as when I emptied the float bowls only a dribble came out of That!!

Interesting, there is a jet in each carb not mentioned in the haynes manual. After spending an age trying to unblock the jet with carb cleaner (and looking on here) I discovered that it's a blank?!! Bizarre!!

Anyway. Few pics

Are you're friends riding newer bikes which had to comply from production with the more recent emissions legislation? (catalytic converters etc...)

It could be that they're not used to the richer exhaust smell from a bike that was manufactured previous to that.

Above intended to quote this post. Sorry. Miss feel free to tidy up ha ha

I'll whip a plug off and have a look. Without sounding intentionally stupid this is the only bike I've ever ridden (with the exception of of the schools diversion) so I don't really have a bench mark for what "running well" is.

It doesn't like starting when it's already warm if that's worth anything? Exhaust always smell rotten to me. Like mouldy grass haha

Hi All,

After a group ride this afternoon, guys behind me all said the fazer is overfueling. Said they could smell it strongly and of course bike is really poppy on deceleration. K and N filter, Micron full system. (See pic) Recent carb balance.

Not sure if a previous owner has been fannying about with the mixture or wether just dirty carb issuses. Bike was sat for a couple of years until I bought it last year. Plan to remove the carbs, strip and clean in the next few weeks anyway. I did wonder if it was just symptomatic of the full micron system on there?

Any musings would be appreciated!

Cheers

Pilot jets I reckon! They deal with your idle/low revs work so if electrics are fine then that's a good bet.  Get the carbs outathere and cleany clean clean! :)

Keep us updated, love to know how you get on!

I realise this is now a very old topic, however it's been really helpful so I thought I'd give it a natural bump.

I passed my unrestricted in July (17) I learned having never been in a bike before. As luck would have it not one of my lessons nor my test was in the wet. Since passing pretty much rained constantly. I've been really struggling in the wet and do d myself tensing up. It's got to the point where I'll just take the car of the roads are wet. This post has pushed me to get out!

Great forum this. Such a helpful bunch!!

What a difference! New caps have worked a treat!!! Instant and predictable power when pulling away now farther than "nothing and LURCH"!!

Sewing machine :D
Frustrating. Because I'm a new rider and this is my first bike I have no comparisons. Also, came with the end can and k and n filter so no idea what they sound like stock. Of course that also means I have no idea what's good or bad with regard to road manners of the bike either.

Thanks for all your help lovely people:) Concider this moody pic of my fazer (complete with headlight mod) as a reward :D

Hi all,

Quick update. Replaced the plugs and Instantly much better, still a bit ropey but better. I've bought new NGK caps which I'll fit tommorrow so I'll see how that goes.

What ive always found  with this bike is when i come off the throttle (ok I know one should use acceleration sense and use the throttle rather than just shutting it off but shit happens) the bike feels like it's hit a brick wall. The deceleration is crazy. Lots of popping and backfiring  (not really loud) from the can. Going back into the throttle is then when I notice the most jumping and roughness.

« on: 02 September 2017, 09:49:18 am »
Ha ha thank you all:) well, with new plugs in seems to ride a bit better with the new plugs. I don't own a torque wrench so I'll have to get one and get them in there properly. I'm assuming that a dodgy spark won't change the carb balancing? Or will I need to balance the carbs again?

It's definatly rust, not copperslip or poo....or curry :D

Ha ha well, thankfully I blasted the area with compressed air prior to removing :D I was pretty shocked though! I'm glad you guys are suggesting it's shite from above...i had visions of blown piston rings and piston covered in shiz!!!

Also, dumb question.. .how should the fazer sound during idle? Like a car? As in smooth running, nice steady in tune hum or is it more brap b b b b brap b b b.....maybe I'm just expecting something that I shouldn't??

I keep the bike on the garage, but Indeed on the side stand. I've changed all the plugs, In an effort to diagnose the problem. I don't have a torque wrench so I'll whip over to my local bike place and get them to click them up for me in the mean time.  Couldn't believe the state of it!!

Lumpy idle and not smooth at low speeds. Changed the plugs today as part of trying to sort out the problem.. ..this was no.3!!

Keeping the revs high and dragging the brake has made a big difference to slow riding (RAsetc) get the lumpiness in a straight line at 10/20 mph though.

Thank you for helpful replies:) Based in North Devon. I'll double check the chain but within tolerance last time I checked..

Changed my sparks today....this was no 3 spark!!!!!

The coolant manifold is DIRECTLY above no 3 spark. Wondering if I have a small leak that's allowing the coolant to pool. I'm hoping that piston isn't shot to hell!!!!
