Didn't take a lot of working out...also they tend to buy batches of overstock and can command a bulk discount...they can be pretty sure they will be able to sell white, blue, black or silver vivaro diesels all day long so can pre order 20 at a time and get them at 'Fleet' prices. They don't usually have the stocking charges associated with trade ins or indeed the premises as GF says, they will have minimal staffing, no requirement to carry a parts stock......Nah...got me baffled ....

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Re: Naked electricals inside fuel tank?

It is far simpler to accept that they are all like that than wonder wtf is going on...I imagine the technos will tell you that the electrics are 'Instrinsically safe'

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Re: Installing HID Kit - Help & Advice Please
« on: 09 November 2011, 10:45:31 am »
Hi Gel...not sure why you would wire to the battery as there will be a live feed somewhere near the front of the bike. I fitted HIDs to my first 600 and rather than fit the ballasts behind the clocks  I zip tied them to the frame rails below the tank. Knowing what I know now I would get the sticky velcro and fasten them inside the fairing behind the indicator mounts so that they are easily accessed by removing the infill panel, neat and effective rather than mess about with fairing removal etc. There should be loads of room.

I am thinking of writing an ebay dictionary of all the bollocks claims made by sellers. I have spent weeks traipsing round the country looking at one 'good' van after another and had to cancel 3 sales due to the complete and utter misrepresentations made...A little tatty - shows pic of flaking paint on a hinge...err what about the roof which looks like an elephant jumped on it? what about the dreadnought at full chat clouds of smoke? I could go on...
Next weeks little delight will be a trip to Liverpool...funnily enough this guy sounds as honest as the day is long...please God

General / New Versys 1000
« on: 08 November 2011, 11:31:41 am »
Kawasaki have unveiled their Versys 1000 in Milan. I kinda liked the idea of the original Versys just thought it was a bit challenged in the looks dept and didnt like all the 'trellis' work around the rear.
The new bike I am not sure what to make of it...my mind says it looks like a 'Town and Country' sx1000...is that accurate or even fair..I don't know..But not sure that this type of bike needs or suits an inline 4...

Frankenfazer has gone to a new home leaving me with just the Fazer from the Black Lagoon (Working title) so it's a 98 R in black and rust and will be my Fazer for 2012 or until business picks up. Sooo on a cursory examination she needs --stanchions, headlamp bulb carrier for the ns lamp, carb rubbers, stainless headers, battery...please bear me in mind if you are getting rid of any of these?

I am with Tori on this..it's being investigated and there's people hurting. That GF's wife passed by earlier in the day tells us how much of a 'There but for the grace of your deity of choice' situation....best left I fear

If I remember correctly Ziggycol had a mk1 600 and mounted led indicators in the mirror shells...I think he put a thread up about it yonks ago...however the information may have made it into hot poop or hints and tips...I seem to recall ovens being mentioned but may be getting confused with Noojs custom tail lights...memory aint what it was lol

Laura...I used to install vehicle vinyl back in the 80s when it was cool to have one's XR3i in gradient fade 3m etc....A whole wrap (There's an M&M joke in there somewhere) would be beyond me but I would love to be able to...

It's a shame that idiots like that Triumph Herald Driver are still around, but the Jag driver had the right attitude and, as Skoot says, he sounds a thoroughly decent chap :)    It's a Hillman

Or how about wiring another phone to a photo sensitive cell and another phone so that when the 'Catch-A-Scrote (tm)' battery goes flat you can see a visual representation in an MMS vid of the thing going off....You have a bloody great dog tell it it's sleeping in the shed :pokefun

A 4 stroke top end seizure is a rare thing ...possible oil pump failure? 'Partial siezure' sounds like something redeemable. Was the bike running ok after it cooled? have you recently changed oil filter (oilways may be obstructed) If it's just witness markings you are seeing I would venture a new set of rings make sure lubrication system is as it should be (not familiar with the engine but pick up clear - strainer clear - oilways clear - new filter...
