I see what your saying there ghostbiker, but maybe the fact you need tools to adjust things on a bike puts some people off? In a car, it's just a plastic handle or two. Maybe motorcycle manufacturers should look at this to make it more approachable for those that dont know one end of a spanner from the other...
Hey Tilts, inside the switch gear there is a little nodule of plastic that fits into a little hole on the original handlebars, Renthals don't have this hole. You could drill the bars or just use a file to rub down the nodule inside the the switch gear. Sorry not very clearly written but if you look you'll see what i mean? Good luck, Mickey
yep found it Mickey, removed,

not really, there was no hole drilled on original bars, and couldn't see any tabs..its fine if you leave the choke cable out, it does close, but a tiny gap in one corner, just being a bit to anal..

Fitted a set today, quite a bit higher and wider, much more relaxing feel to them, front brakeline is quite tight though...would reccomend fiiting them, £31 delivered from M&P...let me know how you get on with the left side switch unit with clutch, cant get mine to fit tight.
Have you cut the plastic fitting tab off or drilled a hole for it to fit in?
ahhhh, think youve hit the nail on the head Mick....doohhh the little tab that fits into the hole on original bars, that ive completely forgotten, now i can sleep easy.

Talking of bars, I fitted a set if 755 today, nice bars, quite a bit higher but wider than the standard ones, happy with the position, only gripe I have with Renthal, is that they must be slightly wider in diameter than the originals, as I can't get the cluster unit with choke to fitt properly, its on, but close up properly when screwed..

Sounds like you may have other issues that need to be addressed first. If your having to sell to fund a different form of transport to get to work, due to years of riding in all weathers then fair enough, but if its purely because you think your to old, well, someone needs to give you a big hug, and a big slap on the ass and tell you to carry on enjoying life, to me, the day I physically can't ride a bike, is the day ill text the devil to pick me up. Hope you get your mojo back soon.

Every day to work and back, 26 mile a day, regardless of weather. Weight went up over 22 stone, lost over 5 stone in two years cycling..

valve in, cables adjusted correctly, pulley lined up with hole, what a clever boy I thought I was, then I tried to screw the bolt in that holds the pulley, only to find, I've damaged the thread tapping the valve out..what to do? try and tap a new thread, or try it without the bolt, its a nice tight fit, not much exertion on it, and it can't go anywhere...???
