you must be gifted mate, or the forks may be a different design to the 4XV/5JJ ones.............. likely the former.

Think I said this before, but I always find it easier to pour a kettle of boiled water onto the wheel just around the bearing and often the bearing will pull out with your fingers.

You can buy the tool from others such as Reactive Suspension but it's still £50........ and the hand held tool is a complete PITA to use single handed.

I have a home made USD compressor, copy of a Racetech type tool, that is alot easier to use on your own but still not "simple".

Is it just oil or seals as well you're looking for? If seals then you probably need to replace the bushes too.

That £99 is money well spent as the forks are an arse to work on.

you could easily jimmy the lock with a screwdriver, or drill it out, as you've got your old cap.

'so what?'

So just cos it costs more doesn't mean you're getting more. I've an Arai meself, but helemt 'value' is an interesting debate!

define "more".

More comfort, better quality paint, removeable lining? "more" doesn't have to mean it protects any better.

same goes for anything you buy - why bother buying Michelin tyres when they're more expensive than Maxxis for example?

why buy an Akra can instead of a Chinese one? it just costs "more" after all.

fully synth oil, quality filters, decent leathers, quality tools, the list is endless.

If it's registered with DVLA you'd have to either insure it or declare it SORN. To insure it you may have to have an MOT, depending on your insurer............... so make sure you SORN it every year.

' And justifying the extra exspense?'

Someone (Deefer?) posted on ear that 50% of the cost of an Arai goes on marketing.......

so what?

pay your money, take your choice. you're allowed to do that.

Having destroyed 3 Arai's in my life, and walking away every time, I know what I'll spend my money on thanks.

does the SZR have a fuel pump and/or filter? could well be water in them too. check also the drain line from the filler cap is not blocked. a cupful of meths in the tank will help separate off the water.
