It doesn't give you the rainfall predictions as accurately and as far ahead as the Rain Today site does.

It does for where I live. Enter your location and the rainfall radar will show in large scale and offer predictions for several hours ahead. I've watched the rain come in over the hills* at the same time as the radar showed it. Spot on.

I would guess that site just uses the Met Office data anyway - can't imagine it has it's own radar stations set up.

We have one.

If you want it to live longer than you they take quite a bit of care - especially diet. No, you can't just feed them cucumber (or a lot of other stuff which has traditionally been fed to them).

A good start here: http://www.tortoisetrust.org/Downloads/Taking_care_of_pet_tortoises_web.pdf

What's wrong with the met office?: http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/public/beta/

All there including surface pressure charts and it's free!

Their Android app is pretty good too.

This is a nice run - during the week. Too busy weekends with bloody bikers!!

Co. Durham has some good rides too. No fixed speed cameras in the county. Chief Constable thinks they are a waste of money and ineffective.

NE England has approx one third of the rainfall of Cornwall. (See Met. Office website)

A couple of years ago, a tax disc for a car never turned up after about 10 days (done on line).

Rang them up and they just sent another - no fee mentioned. Both arrived in the same post a few days later...

Post not infallible I guess.

I had some small lens specs made with very thin wire arms, not too much of a "hook" on the bits which go behind the ears, which just slide into place with a helmet on. Made in polycarbonate as it tends to fog less (low thermal conductivity).
Can't locate them at moment, otherwise would put pic up.
Optician said she has a few helicopter pilots use the same frames.

And yes, I've took helmet off with specs still on!

Way back in history, when telly was black and white, I used to tell the pillion to "pretend you're a sack of spuds".

Also when approaching bends, to close eyes (so they don't try to lean the wrong way).

Worked a treat - one of my first girlfriends was so good, I often forgot she was there!

That was on a 1964 Triumph Tiger 100!!!!

What happened to this option to go to the first unread post in a thread? Or am I missing something?

I'm (almost) sure it was on the old site - and other forums I'm on.

I got some of the Aldi ones for shooting - great value, considering proper "shooting" gloves from a gun dealers are about 3 time the price for the same things.
The finger thing for the trigger finger is great too.

Let me know when you're next near Ovingham*.  :)

Cheers

* btw - the gh in Ovingham is pronounced softly as in "jam", not as in "get" - in case you need to ask directions. (Ov-in-jam). Geordies for you.

Apologies for being a pedant, but...

a) 4 x 220Ω resistors in parallel give an equivalent resistance of 55Ω,
and
b) 2 x 82Ω resistors in parallel give an equivalent resistance of 41Ω.

So ignoring forward voltage drop across diodes,

a) gives a current of 165mA and
b) gives a current of 219mA

I'm obviously missing summat here....
