Water/Coolant temp gauge needed
« on: 12 July 2014, 10:22:06 pm »
Something like this although the OP doesnt explain how to connect the meter, and where to, and how, and what with.

http://fazerowners.yuku.com/topic/26836/99-600-head-water-leak-Deep-shit-#.U8Gli6YkWhc

I know many feel its unnecessary , but I want one and would like to do this mod.

noticed this excellent mod on the forum...
http://foc-u.co.uk/index.php/topic,10182.msg106048.html#msg106048

would like to do the same, may I ask a few questions please to help me using your experience,

1. where can I get a bracket?
2. can I use the eng temp sender (to the light in the dash) to drive a temp gauge ? any idea on gauges or are they all the same calibration?

or something like this (at 00:20 seconds)

seems to be a sensor unit fitted into the cooling system; guess this would mean cutting the pipe and using jubilee clips to secure each end onto this device; how would I seal the joints (inside the rubber) and what size diameter is the hose?

Why not send "limax2" an email, he still uses this forum.

Louis offers a Water Temperature Adapter #10034651 (at least here in germany). Maybe that's what you're looking for?
Also, with some effort it might be possible to adapt the temperature/regulator unit from a FZS1000. It has a real sensor inside. The temperature switch is still needed to switch the fan.
Either sensor can be combined with the multi-gauge, saves you the extra instrument.

sorry, could you explain a little more in laymens terms. in particular, how would I adapt a FZS1000 temp/regulator and where is it installed on the 600? Also, where is the multi-gauge you refer to?

The correct naming is thermostat.
The FZS600 has 2 switches. The first for switching the fan, the second for switching the warning light (at a higher temperature).
The FZS1000 only has a single sensor. Switching and warning is done by the electronics inside the cluster.

The multi-gauge is this:

Some discussion about it is ongoing here:
http://foc-u.co.uk/index.php/topic,13218.0.html

It is able to read the sensor and display the temperature. You only need to get any sensor into the cooling system.
By looking to the pictures I guess it is not possible to use the FZS1000 thermostat directly, routing of the hoses is different.
Maybe you manage to replace the warning light switch by the FZS1000 sensor.
Next option would be to insert the above mentioned adapter (from Louis) into one of the hoses.

I have a multi gauge which will show temp and gear selected etc

I'd never heard of this. Looks ideal.

I'll buy if from you but what is the wiring like - please can you upload the wiring diagram - thanks.

Sorry to jump in. I guess it's more easy if you get the informations first hand as your case is not standard.
The document is here:
http://cvieth.bplaced.net/Multi%20gauge%20V8%20installation.pdf

Please contact me directly (via email) for more details to get your sensor working.

Thank you. However, there is a lot of soldering. I never solder. To scared of breaking the main display. Not for me. Do not want to solder. No way. Sorry

Already have datatool digi

Just want a temp sender and Meter  that will work with this
http://www.demon-tweeks.co.uk/performance/fittings-accessories/lma-hose-adaptor-kit

Just need sensor and gauge
Please can anyone help
