110mph wheelie biker is spared jail  6:13pm Friday 30th August 2013 in News
ROAD safety leaders have condemned the actions of a motorcyclist who performed a wheelie at 110mph as irresponsible and extremely dangerous after he was today spared jail.
Michael John Chester, 42, overtook a car on his Suzuki GSXR while doing a wheelie, and then as he struggled to bring the bike back under control as he returned to two wheels on the A63 in North Yorkshire.
At a sentencing hearing at Northallerton Magistrates’ Court, chairman of the bench Jo Senior told Mr Chester he had come very close to going to prison – but instead he was issued a 12 week prison sentence suspended for two years and ordered to carry out 200 hours of unpaid work.
He was also banned from driving for 20 months and issued a £165 fine.
The latest figures show that 11 motorcyclists have been killed already this year – more than double the number during the whole of last year when five people died.
Road safety leader at North Yorkshire County Council Honor Byford said Mr Chester did not represent the majority of responsible motorcyclists in the region’s roads but condemned his behaviour as “extremely dangerous stunt riding.”
She said: “This kind of showing off and speed riding is not acceptable on public roads – if people want to do that they should book a track day.”

A friend has made me these for when I cleaning my bike, they replace the ones with fingers which can slip if you're not careful, ok you can't remove the wheel but ideal when cleaning etc. one has a 19mm nut drilled and welded on the other is turned down to 3/8 in or 9.5mm approx.
they also fit my MT-01 which was a struggle on the other type.
thanks to Paul for making them........ patt pending

General / The old bat is dead?
« on: 08 April 2013, 01:40:32 pm »
In case you've not heard, Margaret Thatcher is dead.

Just to let you know that I did OK in the 80s moving from a terrace house to one in the better parts of Selby (if there is such a thing). By 1984 I'd paid my mortgage off, this was nothing to do with Thatcher but the fact I was working 10 hours a day 7 days a week, yes I was greedy when many didn't have a job, but hey greed was good.
What I got was a pittance to what the rich people got and don't believe the story that Margaret Thatcher was a poor girl from a poor family who made good.
I agree that the lefty, commie unions needed sorting out but why destroy the industries in the process?

I recently bought some levers for my bike from China and had to explain to a friend that China leads the world now and Britain is now a 3rd rate country.
I'm not pleased about the death of Mrs Thatcher but I have no respect for her or what she did and I don't believe the myths about how she saved the country.

General / votes for prisoners
« on: 23 November 2012, 12:06:06 am »
well it looks like these people who due to no fault of their own have ended up in prison, are hoping that the government will not let them have the right to vote so they can then sue the government and get a few grand to spend when they get out.
The lawyers are hoping the same because they are as bad as the scumbags in jail, in Selby two law firms have been shut down and my solicitor was jailed, twice?
If it was up to me prisoners would have to repay the cost of being in jail, after all if you have to go into care due to ill health you have to hand over all what you have worked for.

General / Granddad
« on: 15 September 2012, 11:04:11 am »
Just been on the phone to my daughter, who last week passed a very serious motorcycle crash with para medics working on the man, now maybe because it was on the same road as I wrote off my 8 months old BT1100 a few years back she got a bit upset, later phoning me to make sure I was ok.
So today I'm on the phone and heard my 6 year old granddaughter ask who she was talking to, granddad was the reply, oh thought he was dead on his motorcycle? don't you think I'd have been upset if it was granddad, my daughter said, well you was, was the reply, so granddads not dead, good, continued doing whatever she was doing.
Oh well I think you just accept things when You're young or don't understand them.

« on: 05 September 2012, 12:21:29 pm »
Well I've just booked my "speed awareness course" (see "speeding" 18th aug ) got done in north yorks so got the letter for that area. Picked York as it's only 13 miles up the road, only to find its 15 miles the other side of York.
So had a look at west yorkshire, one at Garforth about 17 miles from me but the best bit (if there is a best bit) N. Yorks charge £93 W. Yorks charge £75.
