Hello guys and girls, how's about another meet at our BOTW venue real soon, if we keep on leaving it you know what will happen it will be to late again and another year will have flown by. :rolleyes :'(
So I would like to suggest Sunday 2nd June that's four Sundays from now, if for some reason that is bad for the majority then let's put it to the vote and come up with a date to better suit everyone.
For those coming along for the first time, dedicated bike parking is normally available opposite the chippy in the main high street GL54 2BY and we meet from about 11.00 am onwards.
Come on put your name down you know that you want to, :lol
See you there.
-
That's Spring Meet weekend Bert, would love to do both,( finances permitting) can I move to make it a week later
-
Spring meet that weekend, can't do both. Also my birthday that weekend.
-
Thats the spring meet.
But the London Foccers are looking for a ride out on the 2nd on June and I have just been speaking to Exupnut about them Coming from the Ace Cafe to Jacks hill cafe to then go on to BOTW. I was hoping that others from the North, south and local to Jacks Hill cafe would meet up there. I know some may not wish to be in sucha big group but we don't have to all leave together.
I would lead from Leicester forest east to Jacks as I have done before and if need be onto BoTW but hope some one with better knowledge of the route will be happy to.
-
Jacks is just up the road from me, opposite direction to Bourton (I'm By Southam), but I can sit around cafes eating all day breakfasts, well.. all day :lol to meet up with folks
-
great place for a national meet......brum bike shed mkII......BRING IT ON :)
-
As pointed out this date coincides with Spring meet weekend also on the following Sunday several of you are meeting up with the view of riding to BOTW via Jacks Hill Café. In the past we have meet up there for breakfast and then ridden on to Bourton, so let's change my proposed date and make it Sunday June 2nd. For those who can't make it to Jacks Hill Cafe, we will see you at Bourton. :)
-
:thumbup See you at Jacks. :D
-
Hope to see you all at Bourton guys; if not on my own bike, on my courtesy Honda Goldfish... :fish
-

-
Still waiting for 3rd party Insurance Company to assess and make a decision weather to repair or right off! BLD (Bikers Legal Defence) reckon it'll cost £1500 to repair!!! :eek
I'll get it back either way; it's just a matter of when... :\
-
I would but it's TT week & I'll be on the island 8)
-

Erm, wasnt Sunday June 2nd your original proposed date at the top of the page???
-
I think he went back and edited out the old dates so that it didn't provide any confusion... probably not 100% successful but at least now the only date I can see is June 2nd - not going to turn up on the wrong date ^^

Hi Doddsie, as Dead Eye correctly worked out my original proposed date at the top of the page was edited and changed to Sunday June 2nd so not to clash with the Spring Meet date as was originally suggested, sorry for any confusion caused but it is definitely now JUNE 2nd.

Ah, I get it now, but wheres `jacks hill cafe`, is that the one at Towcester??

Hi I have just got home from the spring meet thanks to the AA as my Radiator has sprung a leak, I am hoping to have it fix for the week end but it is in the balance, so I am hoping if I do not make it Cert will do the honours for me and welcome the Londoners. But I hope to buy and fit a radiator for the week end as I m cycling to work till I have done it.

I found a nail in my tyre a couple of weeks ago. It was pretty unbelievable as it was only a couple of days after my other half had found one in a car tyre, which very nearly prevented us from making it from Weston-Super-Mare to London for a Spurs game with our nephews (their birthday treat). Before anybody suggests a falling out with our neighbours, my bike is always garaged, so no opportunity for vandalism of both vehicles.
My tyre only had about 1000 miles on it, so I wasn't a happy camper. Of course the difference between the car and the bike was that the repair cost £20 for the car (plus a £5 tip for getting it done quickly so that we wouldn't miss the game). Nobody reputable round my way will repair a high speed rated bike tyre, so it was £130 for a new one fitted, balanced, etc.
-
Dunno about you Janet, but if I have to pay say £65 for a car tyre then I'm pissed off. If I have to pay £130 for a bike tyre I'm thinking no big deal, it's my toy, LOL.
-
Helen, Tim, Eddie & Val, looking forward to seeing you all, :) Pete don't consider just get yourself there :rolleyes and Steve hope you get that tyre sorted mate, was keen to see your new bike. ;)
Bert, the bike was in for its MOT yesterday but their modem broke so they couldn't do it. They have promised to do it today so it all depends on the garage. The old MOT runs out today.
-
I have repaired my bike and should be at Jacks for breakfast. looking forward to it.
-
Pete let's hope you get the bike sorted mate it will be good to see you again, it's been to long.
Chris pleased you have your bike repaired okay, see you at Jacks.

Hi from a newcomer to the FOC.
You shouldn't have problems getting a tyre repaired unless the puncture is close to, or in the sidewall. You can have up to two PERMANENT tyre plugs done before having to throw a tyre. AA-type roadside repairs are only temporary however, and as they tend to open up the puncture too much to fit their plugs, then you DO have to bin the tyre afterwards. No one will want to repair a tyre that is close to, or beyond legal tread-depth limit, and certainly would not be advisable to do anyway.

Great to see everyone today. I had quite a train behind me from Jacks Hill! See you all again soon.

Thanks for that Nick, but here's an excerpt from the Protyre website:
Repair to Motorcycle tyres can be carried out subject to certain limitations. A motorcycle that does not have a ‘W’ speed rating can have a repair carried out in the tread area of the tyre subject to the size of the puncture and any associated damage inside the tyre.
There is no British Standard for carrying out repairs to Motorcycle tyres with a ‘W’ speed rating and therefore most of these tyres cannot be repaired.
My dealers take the same view. They say that as there is no British Standard, insurance could be an issue if a repaired tyre were to let go. Much as it galls me to have to spend out £130, I'm not convinced that there's a viable alternative.

Good to see everyone today :)

Hi Janet
I've worked in a number of bike shops since 1998 and they all did permanent repairs with no problems as long as the aforementioned guidelines were followed. I've had two permanent plugs in one tyre myself, rode the bike as normal (zr rated tyres) and had absolutely no problems. Maybe guidelines have changed since I last worked in such a place (about 4 years ago now), but if not, as long as the damage is not too severe, i.e, not if tyre is split, screw, nail or other debris goes in at an angle etc, you should be ok. I can however, understand the point of view of such companies as you are talking about - they're out to minimise their liability, fair enough. Anyone out there know the law on this (if any), or with further comment?
Damn, still haven't quite figured out using other people's posts as quotes to continue a thread... thick or what?! :\
Nick

Oh, I did figure it out! How did that happen?
