Cheapskate tyre question
« on: 04 September 2016, 11:23:19 pm »
I have this grotty old fazer, and limited funds to get it on the road. The front tyre is a bit of an each way bet when it comes to the MOT. I have an Angel ST on an R6 wheel, but its a 120/70 rather than a 110. If I use it, will I bust into flames or meet some similar terrible end?  Its currently got a Qualifier on the back if that makes any difference. I also have the R6 rear, but that's a 180 so I'm assuming there's no chance that will fit on the fazer.. Thanks in advance

I personally wouldnt go with the 120, they fit a 110 for a reason.. The 180 is an even bigger no no..  :)
Better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it...

Where are you based? I've got to change my tyres due to rear puncture. So I'll have a perfectly good Avon storm front available shortly. Free if you pick it up. I'm in Bridgwater.

That's very kind of you. I'm between Cirencester and Oxford.. I dont suppose you'd post it if I cash you up a bit?

Can do. It might be a couple of weeks though. Got too much else on to touch the bike at the moment.

You HAVE to change both tyres for one puncture???

That's an expensive habit.

Marvellous, thank you. There's no rush, my brother in law has the carbs in his ultrasound tank and I wont have them back for a while. Shout when it's off and we'll sort it out. I might dash down if I have a burst of enthusiasm... :D

Okay really, just took a bit of getting used to, though I've had these tyres before.

a 120 will fit ok it just slows the steering abit  but you can overcome that by dropping forks through yolkes  slightly
i ran one this way for 2 years and never had a problem

180 on rear is a NO NO  far tooooo BIG

waters wet, shit stinks !

120 on the front will also affect the speedo accuracy a little. Your speedo will show slightly lower than before. If you speedo originally was over reading, it may make it more accurate but if it was accurate before, it will now under-read.

Good point...my 120/90 under-reads by a lot.
