Absolutely, but you're over a barrel and they know it, obviously without forks your bikes off the road. OEM from Fowlers are £172 each and Tarozzi fromWemoto are £133 each  Even hard chroming and regrinding down to size at £150 for the pair is pretty pricey. The only other options are to leave them to see whether the rusted areas kills your fork seals or risk a used pair, I don't know how much a decent pair would cost from Ebay, if you can find any.

I used these guys a few years ago to sort my XS850 stanchions and they did a good job on them but there are companies who do the same thing all over the country. Most of the used ones on Ebay will be at least 15 years old and pattern parts are often a bit of a gamble. A friend of mine bought a set of Tarozzi legs for his GPZ750 and the OEM fork seals leaked from day one. It's obviously your call but I know what I'd do.

The bike is pretty mint everywhere else.
Just passed 20k, im the third owner. The last owner was my best mate, who i know kept it in the garage and looked after it. And the guy before had FSH, all the paperwork, and no mods (completely standard). So i don't think he was dicking about with it either.
I only noticed it when i was swapping the fork oil. Went to slide the forks out, and the chrome came off like it wasn't attached. I am wondering if a stone chip exposed the metal underneath and corrosion took hold from there making it flake off when disturbed.
Has anyone on here replaced them, and have any experience with fork seals and aftermarket stanchions?

Hi all,
I font think any abrasive action will help as it is the chrome plating that has come off. See pic.
it dont think that can be polished out. I dont really want to go down the re-chroming route either.
Really the questions was has anyone had problems with aftermarket fork stanchions?
Especially with regard to seals not fitting/sealing correctly.

Apologies for dragging up and old post, is there any chance you would have a part number for the wilbers you purchased? Thanks, James My rear brake pads came today so as was able to go for a ride to try out my forks...
I bought wilbers springs from Revs after reading a previous post on here.
The thing is, when i rang revs and talked to john, i just said i needed something doing with the front end and he recomended Wilbers springs... He asked my weight and what type of riding i do..
Because he had asked about my weight i thought he must be matching me up with linears..
When i opened the box i found out i had been giving progressive, then after looking at the Wilbers website found they only do progressive for the fzs 600..

The progresive part of the spring is very small, about 50mm where as the standard yam one is more than double that..
I went ahead and fitted them anyway and i am pleased i did, there f***ing great.
The feedback through the bars is very good. You can really feel the front end pushing down searching for grip, it feels much more agile when you flick it over and the front end dive when has completely gone.
These springs really suit my riding style,i didnt need linears after all!
Perfect for a road going bike imo

I purchased the R6 shock, from a very helpful Foccer.
It had an uprated spring fitted. It has completely transformed the handling of my bike.
Both solo and two up the handling is vastly improved. The immense amount of adjustability means i can set it up just right for touring, solo or two up, or a Sunday blast.
Hands down the single best mod i have ever made to my Fazer
I dont know about the stock R6 spring, some riders who dont like the R6 stock spring, might benefit from getting it upgraded rather than going for a £450 option with less adjustablility.
On a separate note, it has shown the front end up as really week so i am going to replace the springs as the cheaper way of getting better front end feel. Can anyone on here vouch for some springs, (linear or progressive,) they use themselves?

Hi Limpy, The FZS 600 is a fun and reliable upright bike! You really cant go too far wrong. There have been a few threads on here for what to look out for and common faults. Welcome to the gang! Thank you all for the warm welcome. 
Im off to check out a fazer 600 tomorrow so finger's crossed if they bike work's OK I'll buy it and feel like I belong here.

You make a fair point F4celess, but it doesn't half take the fun out of it!But those " good ol' days " were before the internet became mainstream. The scrapyards were dependant on that physical presence, where the punter had to rummage around to find what they wanted.
These days, the scrapyard doesn't even need to open it's doors. They can strip, then shift all their wares online (ebay / amazon / gumtree etc).
This actually suits us much better too! We no longer have to spend our Sundays driving from one yard to the next, getting our hands dirty, to find that one gem we were looking for (possibly coming home empty handed). We can compare MANY parts online (on the sites mentioned), then bid to buy what suits us best - pick and choose. It's become a buyers market.

Thanks all! Nice bit of nostalgia.
It was a long shot these days, i was remembering the days of 20 years ago, as a kid going round the scrappies with my dad, bag of tools and a pocket full of badges i collected off bonnets!
Shame, but as pointed out above, climbing over cars stacked 3 high and swaying in the wind probably wasn't all that safe in hindsight.
I was really looking for a complete USD front end, thinking it would make a great winter project, for me and my old man to get stiuck into.
Has anyone on here has collected all the parts then come to there senses and thought better of it???

Hi all,
Does anyone know of any scrap yards in the UK that specialise in bikes? Preferably the old school type, that let you wander round and have a look at the stock, rather than call up and ask for a specific part/bike.
These days health and safety might have put a stop to it?
Any input welcome

Replaced It!! Picking a fresh one up tomorrow with just 17k on the clock...
Not sure what to do with my current one, sell as is or parts. It's never let me down but is now sitting on 98500 miles and looks it. R1 forks, bmw s1000 shock, r1 rear wheel with no torque arm...
Is there a guide to the R1 front end conversion?

Hi all.
I've had to sell my Fazer due to medical problems and have for sale the following;
Carbon radiator side covers. £50
Carbon clock/meter cover. £45
Tank cowl, dark blue. Original. £50 or make an offer
Front mudguard, dark blue. £50 or make an offer
Chain guard by Ermax, dark blue. Scratch on top. £15
Rear hugger, dark blue. Slight damage, hence the price. £10
A set of replacement hex head engine bolts from Pro Bolt in stainless steel. £30
Titanium caliper bolts and titanium front disc bolts. £30
Also a set of Motopro MK10 l.e.d. spotlights with wiring. (Not specifically for a Fazer) £75
Everything is in good used condition, any problems are mentioned in the description.

Might it be worth looking for a different C spanner? If you google C spanner images there are some that look a bit slimmer than the standard tool kit one. Just a thought, you may have already done it.

Take it off, guestimate the new setting and refit it, hardly a long job (if you still have your centre stand)

Easy job. Take it off, send it to me, and in exchange I'll send you a standard shock which has plenty of room to adjust.

Morning All,
I recently fitted the R6 shock to my 2003 FZS 600.
I cant seem to get the C Spanner in to adjust the pre-load. Has anyone else had this problem? Is there an easy work around?
FYI i was going in from the offside (right hand/ accelerator side) but the larger shock makes it too tight to get the spanner on to the shock and room to adjust.
Any input welcome,
