Gearbox lube on FZ6?
« on: 26 August 2012, 04:35:54 pm »
Sounds like a daft question, but I'll ask anyway. On all my bikes in past years engine & gearbox have had their own oil. No mention of gearbox lube in my 2008 FZ6 handbook though. Does it share engine oil, is it packed with grease, or what? Enlightenment would be appreciated!

No such thing as a daft question m8 if you dont know the answer  :) the engine oil lubes the gearbox on the fazer as they are a single unit  :D
Harley tractors etc use a seperate gearbox, hence they use a different oil to the engine m8

Many thanks Lee. Thought it might be the answer, but never heard of it before.  :)

That's right - Aerial, BSA, Villiers, Panther, and all the others I had used different oil for engine & gearbox. Gear oil was heaver.

I'm near Fareham, Hants.
