General / Foccer relay 2 from High Wycombe to Chatteris
« on: 16 June 2014, 10:07:48 pm »
Another one, I'm afraid!  :lol

Could I beg a hand carting a Fazer undertray and a LH switchgear up from red98 to me?

Would be possible, but difficult to get on the back of a bike due to the bulk of the undertray.

Thanks in advance!  :)

FZS600 Fazer / Airbox help required
« on: 16 June 2014, 09:20:45 pm »
More n00bishness from your favourite Fazer projecteer!  :lol :lol

Any wheezes for getting the airbox back on the carbs? I eventually got the carbs onto the engine rubbers after a long fight yesterday, but am struggling like mad with the airbox rubbers. For a start, they don't seem to want to line up! Ideas?

I've already tried a thin smear of vaseline on the inside of the rubber, but that isn't helping much.

Thanks!

General / How easy is it to make your own seat?
« on: 15 June 2014, 06:07:19 pm »
As per title.

I have bought a Ducati 748 rear fairing (same as 916 and 996) off ebay, but it has no seat pads. How easy would it be to make a pillion cowl and a riders' seat, or are there any other bikes whose seats are a precise fit already?

Many thanks!

General / On this day...
« on: 14 June 2014, 04:09:14 pm »
On this day, 2 years ago, at 2:30pm, I presented myself at the Bury St Edmunds test centre for my Mod 2 on my XL125 Varadero. I was quite nervous, as I had to be out of Uni accomodation 2 weeks later, and needed to get home to France.

An hour later, I left the test centre, where, to my astonishment, I found I had indeed passed my test. That was the beginning of my rideing career proper.

And so today, my 33hp restriction is lifted from my license! It's a bit bittersweet: I look forward to riding some more powerful bikes, not least Project fazer, but I'm a bit sad that I'm unable to ride a bike today.

Ride safe, all, and let the good times roll.

« on: 05 June 2014, 11:17:18 pm »
I'm after a Duc 916 (or similar) fairing for Project Fazer. Anyone got one/know of one?

Deefer mentionned the Mito 125 tail is similar, but I'm concerned about width. Can anyone advise?

Thanks!   :)

General / Reccomend me a tail fairing
« on: 27 May 2014, 10:34:23 pm »
Christ, I'm turning into another Noggy!!  :lol :lol

As you all know, Project Fazer needs a redesigned backside (when it comes to bikes, I'm an arse man. Because they look the tits.  ;) ).  So far, I've been look for the old R1 tail fairings, but not having much success. A few other designs that have caught my eye have been the R6, the Duc 916 and the Yam FZR400. All completely different, all could look really cool with the underseat zorsts.

Any other ideas? Any links to cheap bits for me? I don't really want to pay more than about £50 for the plastics.

Cheers!

General / Fazers race series?
« on: 25 May 2014, 09:56:30 pm »
Does anyone know which race series the original Fazer 600 would be allowed to compete in? Anyone done it? How much would it cost, etc?

Just scratching a curious itch here.  ;)

Events, Meets, Ride outs etc / Sywell Aero Expo
« on: 16 May 2014, 09:18:40 pm »
Who here likes aeroplanes?

Aero Expo is at Sywell aerodrome, from the 30th of May to the 1st of June. It's a huge aviation show for General Aviation, and promises to be a good show!

I will be there, manning the e-Go stand. The e-Go is the prototype plane built and being develloped by the company I work for. It's the first 100% British aircraft in a long, long time, and it's hoped will lead a renaissance of technological prowess we have a reputation for. It'll also be on flying display at 1pm every day of the show!

Anyone interested in coming? Tickets are £10 for one day (other rates available) through the website:
http://www.aeroexpo.co.uk/tickets/

I assume they will also be available (but dearer) at the gate.

Let me know if you're interested, and hopefully see you there!

General / Indian MM5A - what's it worth?
« on: 04 May 2014, 09:36:03 pm »
Evening all!

Question for a friend: He has a 1970s Indian MM5A dirtbike he wants to sell, and has no idea of value.

It's a barn find, but the engine turns over, so no issues therre.

Any advice on its worth as a resto project?

Cheers!

FZS600 Fazer / Oil feed?
« on: 29 April 2014, 09:50:20 pm »
Hi all

How easy should it be to get the oil feed (the small metal pipe that runs up the height of the engine, past the downpipes) on? Mine is refusing to line up on the bottom banjo bolt. And can I get away with bending it a bit to make it fit? I reckon it's about 5mm out (from middle to bottom: top to middle line up great)

General / Advice on crack in wheel (Not a Fazer wheel, don't worry!)
« on: 23 April 2014, 10:09:02 pm »
Evening Foccers!

As you probably know by now, I am trying to fit a VFR750 back end to my Fazer. I have been sturggling to find a wheel, but need one to fit the swingarm to the frame (a requirement of the engineering shop I'm taking it). Most of the VFR wheels on ebay are horrifically expensive (£90 for a back wheel!!), but there's this beauty (sic) which I reckon will go cheap:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Honda-VFR-750-rear-wheel-/301161100734?pt=UK_Motorcycle_Parts_13&hash=item461e99b5be

It's a horrible colour, it's been powdercoated and it's cracked. All no nos. But is it worth buying purely for the sake of the fitting? If so, how much, do you reckon? Or could it even be repaired and used?

Advice needed please!

For Sale & Wanted / Wanted: VFR750 rear wheel
« on: 14 April 2014, 12:08:52 am »
Bit of a long shot here...  :rolleyes

Anyone got / know of a VFR750 rear wheel (single sided, RC36 onwards) going cheap? I only want the wheel (I have my own tyre), and possibly a rear caliper. Budget for the wheel: no more than £50.

Anyone able to help?

General / I am drunk
« on: 13 April 2014, 01:06:32 am »
I am pissed off my tits.

Spent a nice evening with Andy, the landlord, went down the pub. Met several interesting people. I am now drunk (as I said), and in that happy sort of fuzzy state. What better time to embarrass myself by posting up here, eh?

I love you all!! Fuck that, not that drunk enough yet!  :b :lol

Been a good day in general though. Nice long sleep in, followed by seeing a friend I've not seen in 3yrs, then a lamb roast followed by the piss up. I am about to pass out happy, and wake up with a splitting headache!!  :rollin :rollin I don't give a shit (now), today was bloody worth it.

Ride safe, and watch out for mercs!!

Merv the Swerve, who was swerving a lot on his way home!  :b

« on: 31 March 2014, 11:52:32 pm »
Please ignore me, this is a sleep deprivation induced random rant / brain fart / why is there a chihuahua walking on my ceiling?

Every evening, after work, I come home knackered. Almost without fail, I say goodnight to my landlord, and say I need an early night.

I then log on here.

Next thing I know, it's 2 to 3hrs later and the wrong side of midnight.

FFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUCCCCCCCCCCCCKKKKKKKKKKKKK!!

I need to put a time switch on the laptop....  :rolleyes :z

General / SMIDSY doesn't just happen to bikes...
« on: 28 March 2014, 11:26:22 am »
On the way into work today, the Peugeot was nearly taken out by a dozy git in a BMW on the A14. As I was overtaking him and the lorry in front of him, the silly bugger pulled out on me without indicating or looking while I was alongside! I swerved to avoid, and blasted him on the horn, whereupon, he swerved back into his own lane, looking rather sheepish, it must be said.

Look out, they're out there!

For Sale & Wanted / FOR SALE: Motad Venom end can (FZS600) [SOLD]
« on: 19 March 2014, 06:45:49 pm »
Evening all!

I'm biting the bullet, and putting up for sale my Motad Venom end can. This is the end can that Motad sell with their stainless steel pipes, and hence should be a good 'un! I can't comment on the sound, as I haven't been able to fit it to a running bike.

The can itself looks nearly brand new. No deep gouges, or dents, a few very minor surface scuffs (but you have to strain your eyes to see them!), apart from a light scuff on the underside of the link pipe - but again, this is nit picking.

The baffle is present, and held in with a Philips head screw. Although I'm guessing it will be removed the minute another Foccer gets it!!  :lol

This can is for a Fazer with the shorter pegs, so I cannot guarantee it will sit perfectly on a Fazer with longer pegs, but to play it safe, if required, I am happy to throw in a pair of shorter pegs FOC (How appropriate!!) It's ready to fit, bolts and all.

These cans are about £160 brand new. Due to the condition, I'd like £100 for it please.

Collection is preferable, but I'm happy to arrange postage (buyer's expense). I work near Cambridge, but will be in Andover Friday evening, and passing by London on Sunday (22nd of March). If you want me to bring it to London or Andover, please let me know NO LATER than 11pm tomorrow (20th) so I can pack it in the car.
