Just a thought, are you changing down as you do this?, the rear will lock up quite easily due to the strong engine braking.

Nope I rarely do that. If I change down usually I don't use the brake until last few meter before stopping, because the engine braking is very strong on MT09.

That happens only when I need the brake - something happens and I need to use the front brake in a sharpish way.

Update today I was overtaking few cars with 70ish or more and I was in the opposite lane while doing that. The lane was straight and free more then 500-600 meters ahead. A car has popped up from a driveway in front of me in the lane. Luckily there was enough distance. The front brake was pulsing hard at the lever when braking from speed and the whole front was jumping like going through speed bumps.

Any ideas?

Don't lose a friendship over a few quid.  We all have our own ideas on how things should be settled or worked out, we've all had it in the past with regards to money and friends, be it sharing a bill in a restaurant, buying rounds in pubs etc etc

You've not really lost out, as was previously mentioned if it was £50k different story but we're talking small amounts in lost interest, I would look yourself in the mirror, say to yourself he's a mate, it's only £500 and then repeat your name on the forum to yourself DILLIGAFF  :thumbup   :pokefun

Just make sure he buys you an extra beer down the pub next time you're out.

ask yourself how much worth is your friendship. If it is less than £4 interest rate obviously you are not a real friends. If it worths more forget about the case, buy him a beer next time and note to him you will expect the next round to have interest added  :lol

Don’t know if this is across the whole range but Yamaha have certainly increased the list price of the MT10.

MT10 is now £10,999 – that’s up a grand in one year. :eek
MT10 SP is now £13,699 (up 300 quid on it’s launch just a few months ago)

2014 - £6,799
2016 - £7349 +8%
2017 - £7999 +18%

2016 - £9999
2017 - £10999 +10%

thank you all guys I will try to get the bike checked by suspension specialist and will keep you updated... :)

The lighter the bike the more significant the rider’s weight becomes… the centre of gravity may well have moved upward as a result.
What is the state of tyres?
Is the suspension set up for you?
If the front spring rate or preload is a bit low for your weight or if the fork oil is too light then you’ll get more dive… more dive transfers more weight to the front and takes it off the rear.

True I am heavy 109kg. Tyres look great. The suspension is set up for me, but there are not much options here, means it is jacked up almost on max. When I brake there is not big dive.

General / losing the back under front braking...sometimes?
« on: 08 July 2017, 06:02:35 PM »
Hello guys,

I wonder if there is something wrong with my front brake. Under hard front brake braking (not emergency hard) my back end starts twitching.

I mean even it is not that hard, way way softer then doing stoppies for example. My back wheel is on the ground but I feel I am losing it.

Happened few times in the last week. Once was I needed to shave off some speed to get in a queue I was overtaking and the back started to go hard left and right. I was thinking that is because I was close to the centre paint line maybe the paint was the reason.

Then it hapenned few times in the middle of the lane too under hard front brake braking (not emergency hard), even not that hard lets say ambitious front brake braking.

Any ideas? I don't have ABS. Never happened to me with the Fazer. I know MT09 is lighter, still doesn't feels right. Obviously I have adjusted my riding, but modern bikes are supposed to brake very well. That reminds me 30 years ago with the drum brakes. Forward planing was the key  :lol

Anyhow not happy to have fast bike that can't stop well. What is wrong?

I've not been on here for a while due to a friend who lives in Spain being hospitalised after an accident needing someone to look after his house and dogs for a while ( no internet and roaming charges mental ) so being semi retired I had to offer my services before back home for the TT.
It was a tough job house and dog sitting in sunny Mijas but someone had to do it and what are friends for but I missed the banter, piss taking and help that comes with the foc and it's good to be back  :)

Welcome back  :)

I'v got a tracer 700 :D
Does anybody know how the Tracer 700 stacks up against the fzs 600-is it any better?

Define better? I mean FZS 600 is a brilliant bike the IL4 engine is more fun then MT07 and MT09 because of the screaming sound, the carb smooth power delivery is definitely better then all MT range inlcuding MT10. And FZS600 has way more power 95hp vs 75hp for MT 700.

These are different bikes better for doing different things. To be honest I would never would have bought MT09 if there was FZS600 2017 model slightly lighter with the same engine and carb.

Think of it as MT 700 is Nissan Micra Estate, MT 09 is BMW M3 and FSZ600 is Lotus Elise  :lol

I read that a while back, i have no issues with that as long as it works both ways, which should include totally banning pissed foreign HGV drivers from everyone's roads.

Yes it works both ways.

However, this procedure is not automatic and it can be refused in particular circumstances, for example:
  • when the same person has already been judged for the same offence;
  • when the person is covered by immunity or a certain privilege making prosecution impossible; like diplomats for example
  • when the fine is for an amount lower than EUR 70.

Tony Blair was one of the best Prime Ministers the UK have had since Adam was a lad. His biggest mistake was he stayed to long.
The Labour party is unelectable with Corbyn or even without him the British public are sick of the same old socialist crap, that was why new Labour was invented.

+1 Blair was the best UK PM for the last 20 years. No wonder he won 3 elections.

Nothing wrong with Corbyn.

You mean except nobody from the general public wants to vote for him  :lol

I mean seriously he is by far too extreme.
