I've already got. VFR and FJR.

The Fazer had to go to make space.

I sold my FZ1-S today so for the first time in 16 years, I do not have a Fazer in my garage.

I have owned three from new.

2000 FZS-600S 'facelift' boxeye model - one with the red black silver and white 'sport' paintwork. Carried me for 22,500 miles.

2002 FZS-600 foxeye model - silver blue 52,500 miles.

2008 FZ1-S lava red 66,623 miles.

Cracking bikes all of them. The places I've been, the things I've seen, the people I've met...

Well, it took a while but she sold to the first person to see it and ride it.

Very sad to see her go; but now I have the garage space I craved.

« on: 28 May 2016, 09:13:33 AM »
Check to see whether your key is bent or twisted, they can be (carefully) straightened in a vice, I've had to do this a few times. The stock ones supplied by Yamaha are quite pliable compared to those you can get cut at Timpsons or wherever. Also, if your key has a transponder fitted for the immobiliser, a Timpson's cut key will not start the bike unless the transponder is close by, such as on the same key ring.

To fit what model bike?

8
It's a cracking bike. I'm trying so hard not to take it out for a blast because I know I will want to keep it - but I can't. I mustn't. I need the space.

9
It's got to go, I've bought its replacement already and I need more space in my garage.

Price guide £2,495 but I will now accept less to shift it quickly. Advertised elsewhere.

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Re: Fz1 pannier bags
« on: 31 January 2016, 05:08:22 PM »
I've used a pair of Oxford Sports panniers on my FZ1-S. The 'bridging' straps across the top - Velcro - go underneath the pillion seat. Then it's just a case of manoeuvring the other straps underneath the tail unit and fastening them together. Recommend you put one of those non-slip luggage mats between the panniers and the paintwork, though.

Had the same problem with mine on about 66k miles; but someone wiser than me suggested that because the key becomes slightly twisted through use over time, I should first try straightening the key by flattening it under pressure between the jaws of a vice. It worked for me - might be worth a try before you go through the expense and hassle of a lock change.

General / Re: Sena new smart noise cancelling the best helmet ever?
« on: 15 November 2015, 10:30:20 AM »
Just a hint, but if you're considering any Sena kit, before you commit your cash just make sure that replacement rechargeable batteries are available for it (unlike the less than 3 years old Sena Bluetooth intercom system - for which I am scouring the Earth for a replacement battery instead of Sena's own suggested solution, which is: "It's not serviceable - buy a replacement unit" at £179).

Presumably, I will need to do the same when the batteries pack up in the other units bought at the same time.

I have two bikes in my garage - one just approaching 66,000; the other showing over 96,000 but that doesn't include the 4 months when the ODO wasn't working so true mileage must be well over 100k.

As mentioned before, cleaned and maintained regularly, they run and run.

It's got to go, I've bought its replacement already and I need more space in my garage.

Price guide £2,495 but I will now accept less to shift it quickly. Advertised elsewhere.

Deep Red Metallic (DRMK) 'Lava Red' paintwork with Old Gold colour five spoke wheels. I have owned this magnificent machine since new (31/05/2008) and have enjoyed getting on for 66,000 miles of reliability, power, comfort and fun. Note - sixty six thousand miles.

This bike has been my commuting work horse - hence the relatively high mileage - and I have used it in all weathers and in all seasons of the year. Silver engine paint and the downpipes are a bit scruffy as a result; but overall the bike is in good condition. Regular servicing and cleaning has kept it in fine fettle. It still starts on the button and runs like the day it was delivered.

The bike is offered for sale without any modifications or add-ons. This is as close as you will get to the original factory specification.

MOTs, tyres, annual checks and service histories (see photos), with many bills and invoices available to back these up. Services carried out every 6,250 miles in accordance with Yamaha's periodic maintenance schedule. Each service has included an oil and filter change.

Recent work carried out includes:

65,606 miles - Rear suspension links dismantled, cleaned, greased and re-assembled with new oil seal (04/10/2015)

64,042 miles - Service including oil and filter change, new DID Gold X-ring chain and sprockets (23/05/2015)

59,911 miles - Brakes serviced, new front pads, new brake fluid, radiator leak repaired (10/01/2015)

58,759 miles - Tappet clearances checked and rectified to tolerance, new spark plugs, coolant drained and replaced (23/10/2014)

57,071 miles - Front and rear tyres replaced 26/07/2014

55,155 miles - Service including oil and filter change (14/06/2014)

Tyres - front Bridgestone BT-023 3.5mm tread and rear Avon Storm Ultra 2 5mm tread.

Original full toolkit is present. I have the V5 document, the bike is registered in my name at my home address, it is HPI and insurance register clear (check for yourself, please) and MOT'd until 31/05/2016. I have all three original keys, including the all important red master key, which is still in its protective sheath. In addition, I have the original Yamaha marketing brochure from 2008, owner's manual, service book (only the first two services stamped while bike was in warranty) and the original Yamaha dealership sales paperwork.

The panels have no crash damage, dents, cracks or repairs made to them. There are two tiny paint chips on the tank and to one of the rear side panels, and a small scratch to the headlight lens. Considering its age and mileage, it's in pretty good nick. Sold as seen, with no warranty or guarantee. I am happy to welcome any inspection by prior appointment. Can be seen in Huntingdon evenings and weekends or Peterborough during working hours weekdays. No test rides.

Send me a PM for more info. All questions will be answered as soon as I can.
