Remember it well,do you also remember DAG exhaust paint? it was really good then suddenly you couldn't get it.A mate of mine used to paint everything with Belco, his bikes, van and used to change the colour of his helmet regularly with it,he always wore a Cromwell Carburton helmet 'cause it used to slope down at the back with a lovely leather neck piece. I think most of the racers at the time used them.

Anyway, compared to my first "motorised" bike it's fantastic,it was...……….wait for it a Zundapp Bella scooter. :o I remember I was frightened to bank it over and went up the gutter and into a pub car park,I didn't hurt myself,I'd have probably been going quicker on my pushbike. :lol

I think I'm being unfair with my dislike of that Honda,I mean it sparked something inside of you, starting you out on a life of freedom, friendship, exileration and a fantastic camaraderie ,who am I to judge?

Carl Rosner is my local Triumph dealer. They're still campaigning a Slippery Sam rep in classics, and have raced that bike since it was current. I had Lucas Rita on my Bonnie as well at one stage. Can't remember now which one needed a deeper points cover(Boyer or Rita), but I do remember having the hump after fitting whichever one needed the deeper cover as it prevented the fitting a high level pipe on the right hand side, as that was the look I favoured at the time.

Slippery Sam,now that brings back some memories, wow !!

Talking about dragsters, just reading about E.J.Potter,the Michigan Madman who came over from the states with a V8 lump in a Harley chassis, apparently he had no room for any transmission and would put the bike on a stand and run it up to the equivalent of 150mph and drop it onto the tarmac!!?? the resultant wheelspin would give him variable gearing enabling EJ to snake up the strip in spectacular amounts of tyre smoke and noise!! can you imagine the balls required to do that???.He even got into the Guinness book of records with an 8.68/172mph run in 1970 but the drag racing bosses wouldn't rcognise his speeds because his bike aptly named "The Widowmaker" didn't comply with their rules, didn't stop him packing places out wherever he went though,he's quoted as saying "drag racing is a way of making a living without working" what a character!!

I wonder if you could carefully "weld" it with a hot knife/thin scraper, I've done it with plastic but not sure about acrylic. You can get some good stuff now for cracked aquariums that's not as expensive as you were saying.
