Second hand clutch boss and dump the 10% springs as they ruin the feel of the clutch.
Classic case of having the pressure plate out of correct position and over tightening  the bolts.
The torque on the bolts is only 8Nm not to much more than hand tight

Wee question regarding routing of cables. I ve seen diagrams of routing throttle cables, but in pics of bikes I see that some are above brake lever and some below. So , what is the right way, above or below lever ? Mine are below just cause it seems neater , although above gives less of a curve to cables. This does not help with vladgluhovhere problem , but may help when he gets back to fitting them back on the bike.
Out over the top in through the cable guide and the right side of the headstock

Get a tap and die set and run the thread further up the cable outer.

Check the connectors under the left infill panel. They suffer from corrosion and the light tap may have been enough to effect it.

I have had it three times on the right side of my face and twice on the left, which is apparently very rare. Mine has been bought on by an allergic reaction or a cold draught.
That is rare indeed, I know of quite a few who had it, but never knew anyone who had it more than once. :eek

There was a train of thought many years ago that severe drafts like driving in cold weather with the window open inflamed the seventh cranial nerve or the area around it.  The reason was because many truck drivers suffered from it.
Take care, not sure if driving the bike is a good idea as the risk to you eye is to great (infection, dust etc). Did you get an eye patch to wear against dust?
You might be as good looking as Tommys daughter when you recover  :D

My daughter in law had it and it was about 3 months before she was ok, but you need to be very careful with your eye.

I for once agree with you VNA, I don't have a problem with culling done humanely, but do have a problem with idiots killing animals for sport/leisure. I have to question how many of these animals have to be shot with multiple rounds before they die.
Why not just cull the idiots, problem solved  :lol

It doesn't really work on my iPad, Unfazed - but, is that a link to "" ?.

That's the site I use for checking out changes resulting from sprocket and tyre swaps with different teeth and wheel sizes etc.
No it is not from that site. It's written using microsoft excel and saved as  XLSX,
Apples spreadsheet software Numbers should be able to read it or Google docs

Forgot to let you lads know, I uploaded a file on the difference changing sprockets or tyres will make to the speed of the Fazer 1000.
It is an XLSX file which allows you to enter the Sprocket sizes or tyre sizes and and see the difference it makes to the speed in each gear.I found it I think on the FZ1 site on the net a good while ago and modified it to make it easier to follow, hope the original owner does not mind.
Forgot all about it until some one asked a question about sprocket changes on Facebook. It is under useful stuff in the downloads section

Doesn't matter as long as the sprocket is the correct size for the chain and shaft. The rubber is only a damper to quieten the chain.

I'm a map man, might use the phone sat nav if I am really, really, really stuck, especially after accidents block the major routes out of of cities.

Prefer stopping and getting directions now and then, never had an issue using maps anywhere in Europe

Though about going the Motor Factors route, but in the end bought the genuine item. The 600 is older and has over 90,000miles with out any hose issues yet.

New hoses now fitted and fresh coolant added. Thankfully I only lost less than half a litre of coolant which was not enough to cause engine issues. Drained 1.8 litres from it and had to add  2.2 litres.

All sounds good, will have to take it for a good run tomorrow  :)

FZS 600 Back on the road, new fork seals and new headrace taper roller bearings fitted. For info. the headrace bearings on the 98-03 FZS600 are exactly the same as the 01-05 FZS1000.  :) I replaced FZS1000 ones a few weeks ago as they were becoming a bit notchy (bought the taper roller bearings from Marksman) and when I needed to do the fork seals on the 600 I decided to check the condition of the headrace, they were not too bad but decided to change them as the front end was apart.
I noticed they looked the same size as the 1000 bearings I had not dumped yet.
Did a bit of checking they had the same part numbers.
I ordered another set for 1000 from Marksman they are listed on the site as FZ1 01-05 (he does not list a set for the FZS600) and they are a perfect fit. :woot
