Hi. I fitted a pair of these. Cheap and easy to install. They have a smaller fan housing so no problems with fitting. Bright and seem pretty good so far. https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F123939511078

I took the tensioner off. On about half of its adjustment range so chain is OK. :D
When people mention tensioner spring failure, do they mean the main springs or the small one on  the ratchet lock?

Thanks for those answers. I had searched and as you say, no one mentions cable lengths etc.

FZS600 Fazer / Renthal bars
« on: 02 November 2019, 05:56:27 PM »
Hi. Looking to change the bars on my fazer. I know most people fit ultra low 758 Renthal's but, I'm short 5' 7", so think these may bit a bit of a stretch. I believe the 754 Low bars are closer to standard height but wider with less sweep. Does anyone know if they fit without having to extend front brake hose which doesn't look like it has much play on my bike. Thanks.

So, if the tensioner is generally reliable, given I don't know the history of the bike and only owned for 3 months, as the chain quietens down once engine warm, is it a matter of time until tensioner takes up the slack. I've read this may be so. Could I stop the cold rattling by advancing the tensioner manually. That is remove and push the arm one or two clicks. All assuming the chain isn't past its wear limit.

Thanks for those replies. I did try the rolling back in second gear but didn't seem to work. Also appreciate that I could leave it alone as it foes settle once warmed up but, I am a Virgo therefore I can't leave well enough alone. I think I will remove the tensioner and see if there is any adjustment left. Also thought of fitting a manual adjuster. Was very successful when I did the same to my previous bike, a Street Triple. It had only done 30,000 miles though. Just to say I am loving the fazer. Wish I'd bought one when both they and I were young :D

FZS600 Fazer / Cam chain tensioner....... Again
« on: 29 October 2019, 08:19:12 PM »
Hi all. New to this site but have read a good few pages before I joined. As title subject states, I have a 03 fazer with 52,000 miles. Really happy with it for an older bike. Sounds and runs smooth once warmed up. However, the cam chain is rattling on start up but quietens once warm. I've seen on here thats pretty normal behaviour untill adjuster adjusts itself. I'm keen to give it a hand by doing the reset. The comments I've read suggest the adjuster has two springs and a ball bearing. No one mentions two ball bearings which parts manuals show. Can someone confirm. Is it one or two balls. Just like to know before I remove all the bits to get adjuster. Incase I drop something.

Hi.
This is Chris. Recently acquired 03 FZS 600. Few issues but I'm working through them. Currently laid up after total knee replacement. Good bit of think and planning time re the fazer.
