FZS600 Fazer / Re: Low power full throttle mid rpm
« on: 21 May 2018, 10:39:31 AM »

What is winterising the carbs? My bike has lived outside in all weathers, summer, winter, sometimes sat for 2-3 months at a time. I've never bothered doing anything with the carbs and never had a problem with them...

The problems I have had are around corrosion of the caps and plugs. It happens every year, as water sits around the top of the engine. It does exactly what your describing. Misfires at full open throttle. Back off on the throttle and the revs pick up.
It's to do with having a week spark and as the resistance of the air fuel mix changes it misfires.

It's a lot easier inspecting your caps and plugs then taking your carbs apart.
I think Ministras means adding fuel stabiliser to prevent the fuel breaking down over time while the bike is stood. Have you tried ACF50 around your plug caps and plugs it should stop that happening.

It may be worth running it for a while on premium fuel, and/or trying a fuel additive carb/ injector cleaner, Forte and Marvel Mystery Oil get good reviews. It might not work but it beats stripping the carbs if you can avoid it, Good luck.

General / Re: Audi style Flowing Indicators

Audi might make flash indicators just a shame they can't invent anything to make Audi drivers better. There's  no choice between Audi and BMW drivers as to who's the biggest d*ck heads when driving extreme caution is required around both sets of drivers.
It seems to me that as soon as the weather turns warmer there are more stand out wankers on two wheels doing their best to kill themselves than in any make of car out to get them.

We're not quite dead yet, Triumph are selling well all over the world, Norton are niche and expensive but selling everything they can produce. Northampton is still a major player in F1 development and haven't you got a british made Nitron shock fitted Tommy?

Too early to tell from personal experience cos I haven't fitted mine yet, I've got YSS emulators to do at the same time, but the rest of their kit looks good and most of the big suspension specialists sell them so I assume they're ok. I think they're made in the UK too, if that sort of thing matters to you.
Have a look at their website, see what you think for yourself.

Just spoken to a guy at FireFox Racing about linear fork springs and YSS catridge emulators and he tells me that I don't need to drill bigger/extra holes in the damper rods now, they just drop in with 295mm K-Tech linears, I'm guessing he should know, being an official YSS R&D centre but it goes against everything I've read on here. Any opinions?

If you're just after a used OEM one, there are plenty to pick from on ebay, starting from around £60.

General / Re: what did you do with your fazer today ?
« on: 17 February 2018, 03:21:33 PM »

Yes ACF50 works and I can see the advantage of buying the one with atrigger spray because the normal  spray can comes out more like a glupy squirt than a spray, I don't go everywhere with it but instead spray it into a lid and either dab a rag into it or a small brush so I can reach award areas
If you put the tin in hot water for a few minutes, it comes out a bit better but I tend to use a rag or brush too.
