Re fitting FZS600 swingarm information required
« on: 12 November 2015, 04:04:33 pm »
I removed my swingarm for cleaning and to grease all the bearings in both pivot and the rising rate link, after refitting I've found about 4 -5 mm side play at the pivot, looking at the parts list I should have two washers (which I believe go under the dust caps) but these are missing, along with some dust seals on the link. I take it these missing washers would act like spacers/shims taking up the freeplay at the pivot point. Can anyone confirm this?

The more I work on this bike the more I'm concerned about its service, or lack of, history :wall

Downloads section. Link to workshop manual - pages 7-62 to 7-68 should help.

All OK now, found a suitable washer and that took out the side play

Thanks

Where's all the pictures for your workings Mr? How is anyone else going to benefit from you stripping it down and not showing your work? :b

I  figured most on here would understand how to put the bike on the centre stand, remove the wheel, the rising rate link and pull out the swingarm spindle.

I'm going to be removing it again in a couple of days so maybe I'll take a few snaps then
