FZS600 Fazer / anyone have an old exhaust gasket in the shed?
« on: 29 December 2011, 01:24:34 pm »
I'm looking for the dimensions of an exhaust gasket off a 98 model fazer. I want to see if the 400 and the 600 exhaust gaskets are the same size. The dimesions of the 400 ones are

42mm outside diameter
32mm inside diameter
3mm thick

thanks

Fazer 400 and other models / 400 and 600 parts that are the same
« on: 08 October 2011, 10:28:32 pm »
Here are some of the parts that I found that were the same on the 400 and the 600.

Parts That Are Definitely The Same  :)

Carb intake rubbers
Rear brake pads
Throttle cable
Clutch cable
Brake lever
Clutch lever
Radiator end covers
Oil filter
Air filter
Front fairing
Front screen
Exhaust end can and link pipe. not sure about the headers though
Front and rear wheels and tyres
Chain and sprokets
Battery

Parts That Are Not The Same :(

Carbs are totally different
Headlight unit and bulbs ae different

I know loads more parts will interchange between the two bikes but I've only put up ones that I've actually tried. If you've bought other 600 parts and they turned out to be the same as the 400 parts then add them to the list

I have a copy of the Fazer 400 service manual and the parts catalogue in Japanese. They seem to be very hard to get so I'll put them up here when I get a chance :)

General / landing gear on a fazer
« on: 29 September 2011, 11:18:37 pm »
i am doing an engineering project the aim of which is to design and build a landing gear style system for a fazer that would allow someone with limited mobilty due to injury to ride a bike again. the idea being that there is a set of outriggers that drop when the bike is at low speed or stopped and keeps the rider balanced. something along the lines of this http://www.koeltgen.de/fileadmin/content/Download/R1200R_FBS.mov i was wondering what people opinions are of the idea? or if anyone has experience of this sort of thing? thanks for any input

Your Suggestions and How you can help / How about an FZS400 area?
« on: 28 September 2011, 12:04:01 am »
Seeing as how the FZS 400 is the Daddy of all Fazers and the rest of the Fazer family are off springs of it. I was wondering we could give it the repect it deserves and have a FZS400 section? All of the other model Fazers have their own section and there is no real gathering of information anywhere on the web for 400 so if there was a section here with information in it, it could be a good way to get new members in. What do you guys think?
