Fork springs, vill K-teck 8.0 do ?
« on: 07 March 2020, 12:50:10 pm »
Hi,
hope someone can help me, I got a real good deal on a pair K-tech 8.0 springs.
I understand the usual recommendation is 8.5, but Im not going on track and Im old and slow...

Anyone who have any experience with K-teck fork springs?
Im 95kg in gear but old and slow on the street, what is the number on the original spring ?

Cheers
Roger

Would not advise getting the 8 springs, The standard spring is a progressive spring and rate is 8 to 11 and that is even too soft especially for 85kg rider.

The original springs are dual rate, in the Workshop manual.Chart here:

Your weight 95kg / 209lbsBike Weight 210kg / 462lbsTotal bike and rider weight - 305kg / 671lbs
I agree with Unfazed, you would probably need between 9.0 and 9.5 springs springs to avoid any bottoming out. Confusing spring ratings used in that chart, I know, Just assume that .90 on this chart is the same as 9.0 springs
