If you are in the South the Sammy Miller Motorcycle Museum is great value for £7.50p. Very good cafe as well. Went there a few weeks ago as a birthday treat.

ref. Can you still change your own pads and clean and lube the callipers and pistons?

My manual says the ABS has to be reset by a garage.

Never cut in while driving so not sure what it is like.

General / Safety when selling?
« on: 24 March 2014, 10:27:33 am »
My Fazer is up for sale at the moment (see "For sales & wanted" section.) It's many years since I sold a bike and once someone took my Aerial Golden Arrow for a test ride (that dates me!  :lol ) which I found smashed up several weeks later at the back of a local bike shop :'( .

I would value suggestions as to what precautions I should take when (if) someone turns up to test ride it. Also how to have money transferred to my bank account - cheques can bounce!

Thanks.

David.

( Seems we think alike - I always say you have to grow old but you don't have to grow up!  :rollin )

General / Re: New brake light idea
« on: 15 May 2013, 01:12:41 am »
Sounds a good idea. Two comments though -

I like to have the brake light switch adjusted so that the light comes on just before the brake. That way you can let someone following know you are slowing down if needed.

Also, on my advanced training I was taught that brake pads are easier and cheaper to replace than gearboxes! Better than putting unnecessary strain on the chain and box.

FZ6 / Fazer / Front discs locked up.
« on: 29 January 2013, 04:42:30 pm »
I'm still fairly new to the Fazer so this might be a basic question - The bike has been in my garage for the period of the snow but I noticed rust on the discs and cleaned them off with acetone as per the workshop manual. Now 3 days later the front discs have locked completely. Iv'e tried rocking the bick but can't get it off the stand. Is there an easy way to free them without taking everything to bits?

As acetone is used to clean them would it be any use running some on the brake pads?

Advice would be much appreciated.

Totally agree. Drop the "U". Detracts from an otherwise good club.

I learnt to ride in the winter of '63 - '64. A good training ground. Not so sure I would chance snow now. It can be fun though. :D

I always think I have more to learn about safe riding.

How about another insurance company? I got insured with eBike insurance

after a gap in riding a bike for 19 years. Good  quote so might be worth giving them a try.
