So I've had my Fazer 8 for literally just over 1 year, from new, it had its 6000 mile service on time, 3 days ago, ridden in to work today a good 50 miles the fun route. Got to it to go home and ............................ nothing, not a dicky bird! Oh and yam assist has just run out as well!

any thoughts? Ive got an hour to kill!

dont think I left parking lights on but cant be sure. I kinx of hope it is that so at least it'd be my fault. Would that drain the  attery over 9 hrs?

every now and then I tuck in behind a Harley rider filtering from the M18 to the M1 northbound going into Sheffield and as much as those out there may comment on horse power to noise etc, they're the best ones to get through the filtering debate. I just sit behind him, listen to the roar, he never takes the piss with the throttle, - the cars just 'part', brilliant to watch. I really need to get my exhaust swapped!

Nick, you also need to look at getting Lasting Powers of Attorney incase your dad isn't able to make decisions leter on. Being next of kin doesn't give you automatic rights towards deciding what happens with future treatment or handling his accounts,

It's covered under the mental capacity act (which covers things like dementia) bit of a harsh subject but can make all the difference

all the best buddy

I got an SP Engineering can on mine. It's been on the bike a few months and it's still in good nick despite being out in the rain a few times..

I got the stubby big bore version but they do do longer (read quieter) options for around the £200 mark..  Most types available on Ebay and some good pics on thier website..

Here's mine on my 2010 FZ8.

comes with a DB killer, link pipe and strap but I 'forgot' to fit the DB killer......    It's quite loud..   :rollin

yep, liking the look of that. What length is that one? I reckon your bike would look even better with black wheels!!!

General / What exhaust fits a Fazer 8
« on: 14 April 2014, 07:32:54 pm »
Now I don't know much about this kind of thing so here we are.

I'm after an aftermarket can for my 2012 Fazer 8, and trying to keep it local (well at least in the UK) but some of the exhausts I like, the companies don't have a fit for a Fazer/FZ8.

I don't think the can itself makes a lot of difference (or am I wrong) but it seems to be the link pipe that makes a difference? I spoke to one company (for the life of me I can't remember who?) who said the can itself doesn't really matter?

So, would either a can and/or a link pipe for a FZ1 fit a fazer/FZ8, is there that much difference in engine size/mapping etc? :wall

cheers

Maybe if you took your bike to down them to have a exhaust fitted they might make a custom one to fit while fitting the exhaust. Probably best to give them a ring and discuss it with them.

as always it's time and don't think any of them open Sundays?

Will get there in the end......

MTC and PipeWerx premises are both 15 minutes away from me. I've heard they are both good exhausts, probably not much to choose between them other than which one is cheaper. Probably will put one of those on mine in the future, plus they fit it for free if you take your bike to them :)

I like the look of the pipewerx ones, and I fancied the Beowolf ones as well but they don't fit with a centre stand for some reason?

You could also try Fuel exhausts at blackpool or Simmi in Newcastle.

Neither do a link pipe for Fazer8, I'm trying to figure out if the FZ 1 link pipe will fit but not heard any feedback from peeps as yet?

Fazer8 / FZ8 / Re: Fazer/FZ 8 History
« on: 09 April 2014, 06:36:36 pm »
Surely a better rear shock would only be of use if you exceed the potential of the standard one. My model has fully adjustable front a rear suspension, so could tweek it and see how it compares to the factory set up.

ah that's just showing off Brian, only the newer Fazer8s (2013/14) have that set up. Unfortunately whilst the existing one is just about dealing with my weight I can see it becoming a bit more softer than it already is before long and the FZ1 might be a little bit stiffer, not 100% sure and I'm sure some one will come and let us know?  :)

General / FZ1 - FZ8 link pipe
« on: 09 April 2014, 12:31:28 pm »
Hi all,

Would any one know if a FZ1 link pipe (2006 onwards) would fit a Fazer8 (2012) for a slip on can?
As far as I can tell the bikes are pretty similar?

cheers

I'm pretty much the same as Dibsy, 15+ years of second hand, very old bikes, got my Fazer 8 with £2000 off the price (of the new 2013/14) bike , £99 deposit and 4 years interest free - couldn't not get it, plus I fell in love with the look of it, had never ridden one before but felt right sat on it, but as my last bike was an  '88 Kwak 750 shaft, anything was going to be better. Wasn't my bike of choice, would've loved a Triumph, but just couldn't/can't afford one.

But that said, I'm loving my bike, more than enough power for me (and I weigh in at 17 stone) and with the missus on the back (8.5 stone) it still goes and stops! Every one I meet say how good it looks, just need to get a new can on it to make it sound a bit nicer, proabably a bigger screen for next winter and get heated grips fitted and I'm sorted (although I'm still tempted to swap the black wheels for gold ones?)(and I've already put a Givi top box - aaaaarrrggghhhhhhh - but a necessity and it doesn't look too bad with the box on or off?)
