General / Re: Quick straw poll - the welfare £26K cap - good or bad?
« on: 25 January 2012, 01:33:31 pm »
In defence of my post and subsequent reply.

When I was at school there were NO pupils who left without qualifications and unable to read and write.
Why. Because there was discipline and pupils were not left to decide whether they attended school or not without consequence.
Nowadays there is no discipline from parents or teachers and it is considered normal to abuse or even assault teachers.

And FYI my son was recognised to be dyslexic and went on to university and graduated with a 2:1, as did my daughter who is epileptic.

So I believe I actually DO know what I'm talking about and I believe that by following your advice to ..."Maybe leave this sort of thing to eductional professionals?? is why this country is in the state it is.

In the "bad" old days, if you had a child outside of marriage or an unexpected pregnancy it was socially frowned upon and the mother and child had to live with the parents and make do............................. = deterrent

Nowadays under age girls are almost encouraged to get pregnant and then given a nice council house and handouts............... + reward.

The government has a policy of trying to increase the input to the taxation pot.
Immigration and an increase in births are a good way to do this if all the extra citizens get jobs and pay taxes. Unfortunately this is not always the case and as a previous poster noted there must be something wrong when people can get money from the system when they have never paid anything in???

Delboys manifesto.........

1. Leave school with no qualifications (because you were too busy doing drugs)............................ NO DOLE.
2. Commit any criminal offence while on social security..................................................................... NO MORE DOLE
3. Immigrants, get convicted of any criminal offence in your first 3 years here.................................. DEPORTED
4. Social security payments to be for 12 months then require a strict review and proof of job applications before renewal.
5. Set up workshops where the unemployed could be utilised for the production of anything rather than doing nothing. However menial this may be it would help to develop a work ethic and encourage them to seek more fulfilling employment.
6.  Pay benefits with vouchers and NOT cash.

The original concept of the welfare state was a good one and I'm all for helping the needy.

Somewhere along the way it became a right rather than a helping hand.

I am now 62 and I have never even applied for council housing, let alone sit back and expect it.

We now have generations of people who have no intention of ever working and why would they when they can get more for doing nothing?

I have an appointment scheduled which requires the services of my old arch enemy.............Agent Picolax.

For those not familiar with this fiendish potion grab a coffee, sit back and read the following thread from BLU-TONE.
I honestly have never laughed so hard out loud.
WARNING...............if you are in the office and supposed to be working, read it later at home, NOT on the train or bus.

She does like gardening but the last plant I bought her, a grape vine for her trellis, obviously did not meet her high quality control as she left it in the corner till it died!!

Ah........the memories.

Way back when I was about 18, 3 of us went down through France and Germany camping.

Our first camp site was in Heidelberg and all went well till I discovered we had no tent pegs.

Quick trip into town and a few mimes later we found ourselves led into a chemists where a beaming assistant was offering us a box of Tampax !!!!!!!!!!!

Heaven only knows what they understood by our mimes ???? :eek

Good luck in the new job.

Reminds me of when I was working for Agfa and I had won a holiday but knew I was leaving when I returned. As it happens the Sales Director and I were the only single guys on the trip so we sank a few beers together.

It amused me no end when I returned to find out that all the jealous toadies back in the office had started a rumour that I was kissing the boss's arse all week to get promotion.................. then I resigned and started my new job in Los Angeles

Mwahahahahahah

The item in this weeks paper about the old chap driving round and round the M25 for two days because he didn't know where to turn off is a good example.

Well if its not that, there may be an on/off switch for wireless on the casing somewhere???? :'(

A few years back on a rideout (those were the days) we pulled up at a T junction next to a young lad holding a mug of steaming hot coffee obviously intending to try and turn right with just one hand.

One of our group had a nice quiet educational "word" with him and you could tell from his expression that he could see nothing wrong with his actions????

Mind you when our guy offered to upend his boiling cauldron of nut broiler into his lap, he began to see the possible dangers. :eek

I have a pal who runs a Snappy Snaps shop. He recently did a load for me.

May be cheaper, easier and quicker than your own scanner?

It typifies the general attitude to driving. Most people drive expecting no hazards, then react too late when one appears. :'(
I was always taught to drive pro-actively and anticipate hazards allowing timely reactions.

I certainly could never drive along looking at something other than the road ahead (and behind in the mirrors!)
