Annoying noise when rolling
« on: 07 April 2016, 06:40:34 pm »
I have a noise similar to bodywork vibrating and slight vibes but only below 5k revs
Don't make the noise when on centre stand in neutral or in gear
Suspected loose sprocket but which is tight output bearing seems fine
Removed clutch checked all OK
Brake pads appear OK is not loose and vibrating
No mudguards rubbing

Could it be water pump ? Really starting to p me off
Help!!!
Cheers gaz

Wing mirror glass, indicators, front fairing shield, infill panels on fairing.
Check engine mounting bolts are done up okay.

Not missing the centre stand rubber stop for when it's up?

I had the same issue with a buzzing only a certain revs and it turned out to be the screws that hold the screen where old and loose. Got some new ones job done.  Could be worth a try.

That would be well worth checking front screen, just grab it with one hand while riding. I had my GoPro mounted on the screen down low on outside in front of clocks and camera always had a loud buzzing noise and that is what it turned out to be screen vibes. I replaced them screen screws and rubber screw fixings and hey presto vibes gone. You can make a nice feature of the screen screws by getting colour coded ones to suit bike colour scheme, 9 quid on eBay.

Certainly worth checking only takes a second while riding along. A mate also had the same problem and he put double sided tape between the screen edge and the fairing edge that sorted his out, if you are carefull it's not even noticeable.

I've always used small strips of the softer sided velcro to put in between vibrating plastics.

Think this may be chain noise ,hardly any wear when tested at the rear sprocket only about 5mm daylight between sprocket and chain ,But loads of sideways movement and looks like there is 1mm of slight wear on the tyre edge wear chain may have been rubbing ,never had anything like this in 30 years of riding ,will fit new c&s and check back !
Cheers for all your replies

Have you had the rear wheel off recently, or adjusted it at all?

Reply to old post this was my old fazer sold years ago,
which I sold in parts as I could not trust that something was gonna break

Have had another for just over a year ,this developed the same noise
Turned out to be lack of grease in speedo drive in front wheel

Big thanks to MTREAD for the heads up
