For Sale & Wanted / selling my FZS600
« on: 29 September 2020, 04:47:27 pm »
I'm selling my Fazer due to wanting a bigger bike.

I've put it up on Ebay for £1150. I'll knock another £50 off for a focer :)

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/203121787006

I found out subsequently that the bike is Cat D, although that doesnt really bother me. The previous owner says he was unaware, and based on how much he has spent on the bike, im tending to believe him, however I couldnt sell the bike without disclosing it. Unfortunately it means I'll be taking a heavy loss, but think £1150 is fair, what do you think?

PS Mods apologies if this isn't allowed.

FZS600 Fazer / FZS600 Speedometer Sender??
« on: 01 August 2020, 09:52:15 am »
I went for the first ride on my Fazer since I fixed the damaged LCD odometer display. The odometer display works correctly, but the odometer mileage is not increasing. Are there separate inputs/senders for the speedometer/odometer or is it a combined unit? The speedo is working fine. If anyone can point me in the direction of the pinouts that would be great.

FZS600 Fazer / Fuel smell
« on: 12 July 2020, 10:29:34 pm »
I've got my bike stored temporarily in my conservatory as I had to take the fairing off and work on the instrument cluster to fix the faulty LCD odometer display (all sorted now).

There is a definite smell of fuel. There are no fuel leaks or anything showing on the bike, its completely dry.

After I fixed the odometer I started it to check the tacho function and it backfired. I had turned the ignition on and off quite a few times whilst I was fault finding on the instruments. Assuming the ticking noise when you turn it on is the fuel pump, so maybe just overfuelling?

The fuel smell was there before I did the work on it though.

So anything to worry about?

FZS600 Fazer / Speedometer Repair
« on: 05 July 2020, 03:27:43 pm »
This is the odometer LCD module that is damaged on my bike. I am assuming the mileage is stored within the odometer assembly.

I'm handy with a soldering iron/electronics so was thinking of buying a replacement speedometer assembly, desoldering the lcd unit and then swapping it out with my bad one. Anyone done this? Is the speedo unit easy to strip down?

If you have a unit going cheap, let me know.

FZS600 Fazer / New Bike :)
« on: 04 July 2020, 04:03:07 pm »
Not sure of the wheel colour, but it has had a ground up restoration and is immaculate. Better than the Gold one I was looking at :)

Only issue is the odometer is buggered, LCD is damaged.

FZS600 Fazer / FZS600 Update
« on: 02 July 2020, 12:23:59 pm »
So I posted a few months ago about getting an FZS600. Coronavirus has got in the way of everything including my bike test, but I do have an update on the bike.

Due to lockdown I haven't seen the bike yet. Off to view it tomorrow. It was finally MOTd yesterday with no advisories. It has had a service including ultrasonic carb clean/new rubbers. Friend paid £350 for this, so he is now asking £1400 for the bike (was £1150 originally).

I'll get some better photos taken tomorrow, but here is an old one of it.

FZS600 Fazer / FZS600 first bike - advice?
« on: 25 January 2020, 09:39:45 am »

Hi,

Im buying a 2002 Fazer with just over 20,000 miles from a friend. It hasn't been used for quite a while and will need an MOT soon, which he is happy to do for me. He tells me its in good condition.

I wont be picking the bike up until March when I should have finished my licence so plenty of time to fettle anything that needs looking at.

As a complete newbie to motorbikes and the FZS600 what should I look out for?

BTW its the go faster gold colour :)

Thanks,

Dean
