Hello folks, my son now has my Fazer and has fitted chrome downpipes so the originals are available. These are in good condition, done about 25k miles but bike frequently cleaned and always garaged. They just need a bit of a tidy up.
£75 offers welcome.
Collect from Cambridge or may be able to deliver or meet mid way.

no, apparently it's not pulling fuel through at all at the mo. What you described was the original problem, in that it wouldn't run without the choke on. Any ideas?

General / help please - Aprilia Pegaso 650 carb
« on: 09 October 2012, 11:19:29 pm »
We (well Ian mostly) is suffering severe wallet pains as a result of my boy's disagreable Pegaso 650. Cutting a very long story short, the carb isn't pulling fuel through. We sent it to a carb man who said idle screw was broken and a few other bits were apparently worn out and he refurbed it for £155. When it came back after successful bench testing our tame mechanic said it still wouldn't run. He's talking to the carb man and we're awaiting the outcome but it's all been such a pain, we don't hold out much hope. Any ideas would be gratefully received. Thanks.

Also, if you can see in a bit of mist well enough to belt along at 80mph you don't need your fog lights on!!!!!!!

Driving in Europe is great, hardly any traffic and the French generally love bikes and are very considerate.

Beware of roundabouts though, they are relatively new over there and when they first came out, the rule was to give way to people entering the roundabout. Then a bit later they changed the priority to the same as here. So there are drivers who learnt before there were any as well as ones who learnt with both priorities. Consequently, it's best to assume no one knows what to do!

A couple of months ago my car reg was announced over the loud speaker in Tesco. With a sinking feeling I went to customer services to meet a distressed very apologetic lady "I'm so very sorry, I've damaged your beautiful car" she explained the wind had caught her door and it had hit my door.

There was a lot of her paint on my door and mirror, she gave me all her details and the next day her insurance company called to sort everything out. Repairs were organised at my main dealer's bodyshop who had my mini for a week. Car and loan car collected/delivered to me at work, all sortedHER insurance co. Great relief and my faith in human nature intact.

Just renewed my insurance and the bastards put up my pemium by £30 stating the reason that I was clearly putting my car at increased risk because of the areas I parked in!! I was in Tesco!! and I usually park away from the door to reduce the risk (and I think the exercise does me good). Never once made a foccin claim in 25 years of driving and 28 of riding.... thieving foccin bastards.

Why is this allowed to happen?

Agree with Erix, stay further back from the bike in front, I'm the same height and it didn't take much of a position change to cure the same problem.

What dealers should do is have a traditional shop front AND sell on ebay. That way they can buy in bulk so can stock more stuff and get best prices AS WELL AS please the locals and anyone passing who needs an emergency clutch kit. A potential job for an out of work foccer would be to pitch such a proposal to their local struggling dealer.

This is what lots of other businesses have done, there was a bloke on the radio from ebay saying that a high proportion of sellers who do regular business have both a physical shop and an on line business.

How do I stop from thinking, ah nice sunny day, best ride the bike to work. How stupid am I :eek

25 miles later, slipping all around then get to work and can't undo me lid, thank god for secretaries! It takes 30 minutes for my fingers to stop feeling like they will explode then have to do the reverse in the foccin' dark.

Mad, just quite mad :rolleyes  note to self....December is a bit too nippy for an old bird.

« on: 12 December 2011, 07:08:28 pm »
Really is worth looking at second hand gear, lots of people kit themselves out with to notch wear then never go out in real weather and sell the bike and clothing. Or they just get too fat and sell the stuff they don't fit into! :'( Not bought it myself but know a few people who have got nearly new stuff off ebay at a fraction of the original price. Especially cordura/gortex, it's so obvious if it's been down the road you can't buy damaged  stuff by mistake. Just need to ensure all the proper armour is still in it.

All non-emergency procedures cancelled at the hosptal where I work, only 4 or 5 people picketing at the gate though. I wasn't one of them, I don't think my union, the Royal College of Nursing, has ever voted to take strike action.

Go to a small quiet village post office and ask then to do a certified copy and they will probably only charge their standard price for a photocopy but will sign and stamp it to certify that it is a true copy of the original that they have seen. This was quick and simple but not so in a city post office where they had to get the head honcho and I had to wait for ages. This is your proof of the classes of vehicle you can drive, not worrth taking the risk of them missing off your bike licence..........especially if,like me, you only had to ride round the block to get it :eek

It will say on the pack if it's suitable for baking; most low fat ones are ok (but won't taste as good) it's the very low fat spreads that won't work as the water content is too high.

On Saturday, just when I was feeling life is a bit of a bastid and wondering if perhaps it would be best if I sold my bike I looked out at the lovely winters day and decided to go out for a ride. What a good decision, I went over to visit my 89 year old mum, about 70 miles each way, and put a smile on both our faces. It was such a blast even the cold didn't matter. Think the bike's mine for a bit longer.

FZS600 Fazer / Re: How do I make my 600 fazer faster?????
« on: 15 November 2011, 10:54:14 pm »
It's usually the rider not the bike that needs alterations. Not meaning to be rude at all but it's worth spending your money on something like this http://www.superbikeschool.co.uk  than adding bits to your bike.

The stuff I used, which I can't now remember the name of, you had to iron it to finish the sealing process.....so yes I guess this counts as an ironing thread afterall :b

I thought they had dry acid in and you just had to add distilled water. Hate to ask but have you read the destructions?
