Just to stress the point about up and over doors with a single central lock.

If I can get the door open within 2 seconds then a thief will be quicker - and it is totally silent - if the thief closed the door on his way out you wouldn't even know until you opened the garage door.

For your own sanity fit some extra locks.

A crowbar would soon rip out a roller door - thieves would not care whether they leave a mess.
My up & over door has one lock. Totally useless, I can get in with a piece of flat bar within 2 seconds.
My father in law had a 4 point locking system on his garage door and I don't recall any problems.
I am going for the roller door because it looks good and I can have a remote control on my key fob. It will take up less space which will improve some of the lighting I already have in place which gets blocked out with my current door when it is open.

I was just going to fit a big bar across the inside of the door. Something that could be easily lifted out of the way rather than faffing around with more keys.
My next home improvement will be a roller garage door. I'm not sure they are much more secure than an up and over door though.

As for insurance... I don't have anything of that high value in my garage. All my bikes are insured when they're in the garage but apparently they might not be insured for theft if they get stolen off my driveway!

It was something that Ducati finally did for Lorenzo that cost about £2.50 allegedly!
Maybe certain tracks have proved to be favourable... but he's made his money and time to move on.

KTM certainly scored the biggest own goal on the Long Way Round. I bet Charlie Boorman is still laughing his head off.

I could be wrong but they look identical to FJ1200 bar ends. usually some knocking about on ebay but might need a re-spray. Stainless steel one's were only around £30 or so.

Yes, it says so in the ad.
Sounds even better without the baffle. A deeper tone and not too much louder.

If he doesn't win BSB this year he will never win.
He is a good rider but seems to crack under pressure.
Johnny Rea has commanded WSB for a while now and will be hard to beat. Yes, Haslam has beaten him before but they weren't on the same bikes.

Perhaps some of the foreign aid budget wasted over seas should be used

to restore many things in our own country that have been neglected due to "lack of funding."

It's good to know that if it packs up 200 miles from home you're not completely up the creek with no paddle.
Whether the pipe would reach the carbs or how you join the two bits of pipe together by the side of the road is another problem but if you can get to a garage/DIY store it could be done cheaply. Probably less hassle than calling a breakdown service.

Yep the fuel pump would have to be removed.
A couple of problems can occur so it's not advised over a long term.

The fuel pump also acts as a fuel cut off when the ignition is off. If you've got a sticky float valve in a carb you could end up with all your petrol leaking onto the floor.

Fuel starvation at high revs.

FZS600 Fazer / Re: Swap To Hazard Light Switch?

I see bikers using hazards while filtering. I think it's a bit pointless cos if Mr/Mrs car driver hasn't seen you already then the hazard lights aren't going to do any good.

I had them on my FJR1300 and I think I used them once. I didn't use them on my V-Strom and after a year of owning the Fazer I only switched them on to see if they worked.

There are situations where using hazard lights can cause confusion but to be honest most people use them in all the wrong situations, the cops aren't going to do you for it. At most I think you would get a slap on the wrist - you're more likely to get a parking ticket for parking on double yellows with your hazards on because you're on double yellows, not because your hazards are on.

As for HGV drivers... A couple of flashes of the hazards or a right, left, right, left is good. One single flash seems a bit impolite. Also when flashing HGV's in, make sure it's a good long flash or preferably a short flash followed by a longer flash - too many drivers now give such a short flash you don't see it, they seem to be afraid of doing it properly.

or just poke a stick down the oil filler and see if you've got any in there.

Gotta agree VNA, our fleet shouldn't be there while the French have a self imposed ban to preserve stocks.
They'd soon be moaning if it were the other way round.

Look, at the end of the day it's gonna be so worth it.

20
Are you trying this with the side-stand up or down? Might make a difference if you have it up.
Could also be your theory that a relay has be burnt out - if too much damage has been done it might be worth letting it go unless you want to buy it back to use as spares.

I bought a stolen recovered bike once and the barrel/piston had to be replaced as the scrotes had thrashed the engine to bits.

21
Have you checked the kill switch?

22
The starter button won't work cos your neutral light isn't working. Try pressing the start button with the clutch pulled in. If it starts then there is still a problem with the wires from the neutral switch as the bike thinks it's in gear.

« on: 27 August 2018, 05:55:35 am »
I would have gone to a car parts supplier or a hydraulic hose supplier with the bit of pipe in hand and ask if they can find something similar or better. Wouldn't cost anywhere near £50.

It's probably more about age and not mileage. 45,000 is still a fair amount anyway. Yeah my bike has done over 70,000 and hoses haven't been a problem but you're gonna get something fail every now and then. If it were a fairly new bike I would be concerned but after 45,000 miles I would just sigh/swear a lot/throw spanners around the garage before buying a new one.

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Re: play in rear wheel
« on: 27 August 2018, 05:47:14 am »
There will be some play when rolling the wheel back and forth. I'm not sure about 2 to 3 inches, maybe 1 to 2 inches. This is normal.
Only get worried when you can roll your bike in gear for several hundred yards as someone has probably nicked your chain  :lol
