Actually about 100,100 miles now.[/size]

So far it's got through 4 TPS units, three were replaced under warranty, one was bought as Yam were too slow to admit there was a problem. It's had a few cutting out problems recently, but I think that's more to do with the various accessories we originally fitted but recently removed from the wiring disturbing a loose connection/fragile crimp.

We think we've fixed the problem though. Our local Yam dealer bodged it first time round but it came back. A contact in the shut-off relay connector was replaced by them, but they used the wrong crimp and put it in upside down to get it into the block. So when the block was pushed onto the relay, this crimp got pushed back out of the block causing intermittent cutting out, no fun on the motorway!

Two screws fell out of the front mudguard which then got ground away by the tyre, which is why the tape is on it. Two fairing lugs have snapped off up by the mirrors and the brakes need regular cleaning out as the pistons tend to seize every few months otherwise.

The engine casings have taken a beating, their paint's effectively been blasted off by road dirt, lots of the screws and bolts have gone rusty but have been replaced with stainless ones, the plastics have got a bit beaten up and the wheels have lost some paint but that's about it I think.

Oh, and the fuel gauge is dead, due to some old fuel from the back of the garage which had got water in it. D'oh!

The engine's fine, easily good enough for another 100,000 miles. AFAIK the valves have never gone out of spec.

  About brake pistons seizing: have you tried disassembling calipers and thoroughly cleaning, then reassembling it all, adding some red rubber grease in the end?  Or is there no help? Sounds like too much to clean every few months. I do mine once in the spring and that's it.

The calipers get cleaned and serviced properly every few months, but every few months (call it four months for argument's sake) for Debz equates to about 8,000 miles on the bike, in all weathers and conditions.

100k is quite impressive 
Last bike I did that mileage on wa a 1985 GPZ550 and it was fecked by then.
My FZ6 currently has 4k on it and just about to start using it as my main bike. the FZ1 will be tucked under a blanket for the next few months.
Never keep my bikes long enought to make that mileage these days but lets see how the Scottish winter affects mine. FZS600 worked a treat last year so hopefully the FZ6 does the same.

Hi Nooj,
Your bike was heading towards 50k last time I saw it at the ACF day in early 2009 - still looking good. There are a few of Gen 1 1000s which have done 100k+ so the breed seems to last well mechanically.

104,000 miles and it's spat its dummy, turns over and fuels OK but won't fire up, (possibly the coils?). Done well though so far!
