I've just put a set of PR4s on,  only really done about 50 miles them in so can't comment long term on them.  But they feel great do far.  Was £235 for the pair though.

Hi.  Don't think I'll go for them.  Would be to much just now to get the rest of the rack for them.

I'll need to price up the fitting kit and see if I can still go for them.  Will let you know.

How's the exup valve and cables looking? You got them for sale too?

Dont suppose you have the wing rack to fit them with as well? I've got a givi to box,  but could do with the side boxes too.

Simon,  I'll probably start asking a lot more questions when we fix a time for doing the tour.  Hopefully next year   but it may get pushed back a year. I'd like to see a thread with pics of your tour.

We are thinking of going in may and doing the 11 day tour on that site you posted the link to.

Do Vietnam. Seriously, I've done a few miles in that wonderfull country and it's both facinating and loadsa fun -and very easy going. North of Hanoi in the mountain areas around the Laos and Chinese borders is the pick of the tours. You can do it on your own no problem or use a guide with these people.

http://www.flamingotravel.com.vn/vietnam-motorcycle-tours/d118/

Cost for a ten day trip inclusive of everything (flight, hotels, food, motorcycle hire) comes to just under £1000.

Trip of a lifetime, but you'll go back the next year for sure and your mates will want to come too.

Not trying to thread hijack,  but how much extra did you spend when you were out there?  My and my mate are seriously thinking about Vietnam and this looks ideal.

Just as well I asked then.  :)  2 cables now ordered.

Though you'd have thought that it would make sense for the cables to be made with a crimped end,  not a soldered end on the fixed side.

Is this the link to the Venhill kit?  Are you able to thread them through the outers when they are still on the bike?  Or do you still need to take them off?  Also,  I take it you thread them through from the exhaust side and the bit you cut off is at the carb side?  Or have I got it the wrong way round?

Mike

I meant to say,  the cables were very slack, and the valve was sitting in the correct position.  The valve was also a little stiff.  I managed to free it off, and then tightend the cables leaving a little slack using that link,  and the 7k fault has now cleared, but will need to replace the cables at some point soon.

I looked at the allen key bolts that you need to remove to get the valve out,  and 2 of them look as if someone has tried to get the valve out before and rounded them off,  so it may not be an easy job getting the whole valve out.  I need some new penetrating fluid and will keep soaking them over a week or so and see if I can get them off.

Unfazed:

Cheers for the wemoto link,  I'll probably end up using them unless someone has spare outers that I can just get new inners for.

No, mate - afraid not.  Cheap because Gen II guys frequently remove the EXUP on that model as it only closes a flapper valve to cut noise at the dB test rpm. :(

Cheers Mike,  Worth a try I suppose.  I've posted a wanted thread in the for sales section in case anyone has anything.

Hi

I had an issue with my EXUP valve pulley today, and now require a new one.  If anyone has one lying about, please let me know.

Also  If anyone has any spare EXU cable outers lying about I'd like them as well,  so I can send them off for new inners before I take mine off.

Thanks

Hi Folks

I've only had my 1000 for a year now,  and I was going to be getting stuck into the EXUP valve over the winter to make sure it was fine for this years riding.  But I ended up in hospital and had to have surgery on my back so I've been pretty immobile since the end of October and just getting back to normal now.

I was taking my bike for an MOT yesterday and noticed the 7k revs at ignition problem,  So I asked if when doing the MOT and service they could look at the EXUP valve.  Got bike back last night and the 7k revs issue was still there. I thought I'd have a look and see if they had even bothered to look at the valve or not this morning before I phone them to complain,  and the 3 bolts on the cover had all been off recently and had grease on them so they would come off ok. I took the cover off and the cables were a bit slack, and the valve wasn't aligned correctly, so I thought I'd have a look at removing the whole thing and checking it was greased properly.

I removed the bolt from the centre of the pulley ok,  but was then unable to remove the pully.  It was stuck tight.  I could turn the pulley ok, it wasn't seized completely, just unable to remove it.  When I was trying to pry it off,  I ended up breaking off one of the forks that you use to lock it,  so as well as trying to find out how to remove the pulley,  I'll also need a new one.  Does anyone have one lying about?  or am I going to get shafted from Yamaha?

I then had a look at the cables, and one of them is frayed badly so will need a new set of cables as well.  I've checked on ebay,  and only cables I can find are a set of original oem ones,  which are going for 150 ish.  I've read on here about the venhill ones, but I'd rather not take the current ones off and send them away,  so unless I can find some decent second hand outers that I can use to get new inners,  I'm going to get fleeced for these as well.

FZS600 Fazer / Re: Ignition/key problem
« on: 17 January 2014, 04:27:32 pm »
I always found that if the key didn't turn easily,  if I then either pushed the key towards the font of the bike,  or pulled it back towards me,  it then turned easily.

Did that on my old box eye, and the same on my FZS 1000.

I'm getting excited about getting ivanised this weekend as well.

Mine is due on Sunday and I've got a 200 mile trip each way,  so really looking forward to testing it on the way home...

Luke,  got my shock yesterday and fitted it last night.  Only really taken the bike in to work this morning which is only 15 miles,  but what a difference.  Can't wait to get a proper run to test it fully,  but I'm well happy already.

Luke,  how much is the kit?

I upgraded from a fzs600 to a 54 plate thou in April this year.  I'm getting it invanised in September but feel the rear shock is a bit wallowy ,  especially for a larger 20st  chap. Might need a month or so to save up but really interested in the kit.

23
Is this visit just an Englandshire visit? How far north will you be?

24
Mike, I've already emailed and am available any time in September or October.  Unfortunately I don't have a garage to offer as a place to work though. Any other Scottish foccers still being done and have some where to work or will it need to be a north England trip for me?

I hope we can get more Scottish fockers lined up so mike can do a Scottish trip this year, or even early next year.

Just upgraded from a fzs600 to a thou in April and would love to get ivanised.
