That should be............... would be comic Mr Clarkson.  I forgot the word comic.

Now of course, on any other forum that I've used I'd just edit it.

But for some unfathomable reason, even now it's moved host, there's no edit button on foc-u, so yup I've gotta bore you all with an almost totally pointless posting.

One of the lads at work has just bought a 348

And as a result I came across this 'vintage' Clarkson;

Old Top Gear Ferrari 348

He's always been a stylish foccer - what?

Clarkson?  I thought why not just shoot Clarkson.  Then I thought what a waste of a bullet, just hang him instead.

Now I wonder if the would be Mr Clarkson, who earns a couple of million a year, has ever told jokes about shooting phone hacking journos?  Has he ever cracked a risky joke about Murdoch, David Cameron (Grodon Brown was a one eyed Scottish idiot), Rebekkah Brooks etc.  Oh of course those are his friends.

Is Mr Clarkson, whilst lining his pockets, making cheap jokes, playing politics for his buddies, making fun of himself, or yet again hitting the headlines just as he launches yet another tedious and childish DVD.

Oh foc it, pass me the rope.

For anyone thinking of having just the one and riding/driving this Christmas here is a sobering bit of video footage that makes you think

I often have one and drive or ride.  But it's just one.

Here's a thought, driving while ill or simply over tired is just as dangerous as driving after half a dozen pints.

As for the video, well if I thought about it too much, I wouldn't ride my bike again.    I'm not gonna get pissed an ride my bike or drive my car.  But lots of other people are.  Plus I know at times I'm riding or driving when I'm under the weather or extremely tired.  At least I usually recognise it.

But no it doesn't do any harm to screen a wee shock video now and again, though that one does go on  a bit.......

Time to touch wood.

Been getting my tyres from http://www.performancetyres.net/ for 20 odd years.

Good prices.  Best to phone to make sure they have what you want.

I have to admit to being an insomniac also.
It's a pain, as a lack of sleep leaves you feeling, as you know, like shite.

The only thing that ever worked for me was sleep deprivation.  Yup madness, but it can work.

Basically to do it, you set yourself out on a months (or two) sleep deprivation.  Basically training yourself only to sleep at night.
No napping or snoozing during the day, no matter who shite you feel, stay awake and find things to do keep you awake no matter how focced you are.  Remember it's only for a month or two.
Then combine that with limiting the time you allow yourself to sleep at night.  6hrs should do.  That's 6hrs in bed, if you don't get a 6hrs sleep, tough, just keep following the routine.

Stick to it for one hellish month (or two).  In fact towards the end of the month it should get easier, and if you are an insomniac, despite being somewhat sleep depraved you should feel better, as hopefully, the 4 and a half to 6 hours sleep your are (hopefully) getting each night is quality deep sleep.

A word of warning however.  It can be addictive.

I guess also there must be different types of insomnia.  I'm the can't get off to sleep type, combined with being a fussy sleeper.

A couple of drams at the end of the day also helps me, though any more than that impacts on quality of sleep.

Oh to be a sound sleeper.  It must be wonderful.

Paid???  www.askmid.com is free if you declare it's your vehicle.....

So he's just become liable for the tax on all those vehicles he (never actually) checked.  Whoops :rollin

I am entitled to the information cos I don't like paying through the nose for insurance and tax while a bunch of theiving bastard pikeys get away with under the nose of the old bill just because it's too much hassle to assume the same level of justice applies to them as it does me.

How about 'we' just make up a whole load of nasty shite as usual?

Oh Jesus here we go again.

One guy at work is a bit sad but does have his uses.  When there was the TV coverage of the Dale Farm mob slowly moving out, he sat there noting down the registration numbers of all the cars and vans beng driven out of the squat.  Checking them against askMID showed that not one was insured......

A bit foccing sad?  Just a bit?  And like he paid 3.75 per vehicle search to check their insurance status.  I mean, aye right, or yeah needs real foccing help.

Oh, how much more made up shite do we have to read here on this issue?

Whatever did happen to the travellers?

The answer is of course, as thanks to Big Mac you can see that I predicted above, they are still there!  Surprise surprise surprise!

They majority are in temporary caravans on the 'legal' part of the site.

They intend to continue their battle with Basildon Council.

That's not the actual one, I shared  it with my Mum.
Dreadful thing.  I spent every other weekend filling in the holes in it.  Then I pranged it against a gate post damaging the drivers side wing badly.  I drilled a hole in the side, got some wood in behind and pulled.  Out it came, but when I looked under the bonnet the bulkhead seam had split as well.  I, umm, just threw some more shit from the bulk buy tin of fibreglass I had.

I then eventually tried to kill it.  I never changed gear till it revved out, but it just kept going, gutless but bullet proof 850cc engine.  Top speed just over 60mph.  Could get stuck on steep junctions with three passengers and caused tail backs on long hills.

It might have been dog slow but you could scare the shits out of folks with it.  Super soggy suspension, fly down farm tracks or just stick it up on two wheels going round roundabouts.

I did see one that had been in a bad accident, it was spread all over the place.   Scary.

But no the first car that was all mine, apart from buying it, was an Opel Rekord 2.0S.  My Dad gave it to me, it probably had well over 120,000 miles on the clock (the speedo didn't work for a while), it was worthless but it went.  I loved it, abused it and ran it into the ground.  It was totally focced by time I scrapped it.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/jk1971/4373773676/" title="Opel Rekord E 2.0S by jenskramer, on Flickr

Then I bought my Dad's old 1983 Cavalier SRi.  I wish I hadn't.  He been trying to run it on unleaded.  And my Dad's never wrong.  No it was him that burn't out the inlet valves it was me thrashing it.  Aye right.  So I learned how to get the head off and fix it.  Then I learned about stretch bolts and did it all again.  Then I leaned never to neglect cam belt changes, away we went again.  I was tempted to stick that head on with wing nuts and carry a spare gasket in the boot.  Anyway I wrecked that too eventually.

Since I've had a 1992 Cavalier SRi, scrapped that, and now on a VW Bora 2.0S

Kind of reminds me when I was 18, and riding the 40 odd miles to the SSEB residential training centre on a Sunday night.

It was November and getting cold.  So rather than packing most of the clothes I needed for the week, I wore them, including two pairs of jeans.

I needed to fill up my 1974 C90 before heading off.  So filled it up, then popped into the shop to pay.  It's then I remembered my wallet was in the inner pair of jeans.

So no I didn't take my helmet out but I did have to drop my troosers.

As others have said, if you wanna bend it get it red hot.  But be careful it's very easy to burn yourself or have some sort of other nasty crises if things go pear shaped.  That thing will hold a lot of heat.

It seems to be a current model, so you should be able to get a new grate.

But yup it's a cheapie.  It looks not bad for a budget stove though.

Best bet is to bodge it till it's focced, while saving for a new un.  You'll probably still get years of use out of it.  Good stoves will give you plenty of control.

Be careful what fuels you burn.  Wood is best, but I burn smokeless fuel during the week, or when I want it to smoulder away while I do other things or go out for a good few hours, or overnight burn in winter etc.  The smokeless I use is sure fire, burns to a powder and only smokes up the glass when set near minimum burn, but usually just wipes off.

Coal is a no no, particularly if you have a lined chimney.  Lined chimneys are really a must for small stoves.  But even without a lined chimney coal isn't good, the flame is too long and hot, eventually you may crack the top plate.

Good grates should last almost forever with wood, but with coal or smokeless they will eventually burn right through.  I've seen many wrecked grates propped up with tin cans in hostels.
