Browser advice
« on: 10 March 2013, 07:10:11 pm »
Just started getting random words on web pages underlined.
When I hover over them its an advert for random shite.

Using Chrome generally. Added AdBlocker but still same.
Been through task manager and control panel trying to find something the
kids may have installed.

Any ideas

Depends on the website - a lot of news sites add it in themselves for advertising purposes and there may be nothing you can do about it as it is displayed as just a standard web link making it hard to detect. Adblocker and other utilities may be your only option, but if you've already tried it then I'm not sure to suggest?

Is it affecting all sites you visit or only some?

Its just some sites.

I'll watch out for some pattern.

Also check what add-ons you have installed withinm the browser. Third party tool bars can cause this

Not much you can do about it tbh - its a standard link, with the work displayed as text. I'm running Firefox with AdBlock Plus and I still get it on some sites.

For those of you who use it you'll know what I mean, for those that don't, MCN used to be full of adverts like these (don't know how bad it is now, haven't been on it that much) - often emanating from the far East with crap English, and usually selling chav clothes.
